Amy's Park

Amy's Park Amy's Park is a 500 acre nature preserve of ponds, marshes and forests in Bolton Landing containing hiking trails and two ponds with access for paddling.

Named in memory of Amy Wolgin Wiener, Amy's Park is a beautiful property of ponds, marshes and forests in the uplands of Bolton Landing located between Padanarum and Trout Falls Roads. The Park also includes a portion lying to the west of Trout Falls Road. It was purchased on February 29, 2012 and its hiking trails were officially opened to the public with an inaugural guided hike on Friday, July

13th following the LGLC annual meeting. LGLC purchased the property for $500,000 from a conservation buyer, who held the land until LGLC was able to finalize the purchase. Funding for the deal is provided through two grants: a State Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) grant from the New York Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, which was awarded to LGLC in 2007 for this acquisition, and a Federal North American Wetlands Conservation Act grant. The Bolton property includes the headwaters for Indian Brook and contains important wildlife habitat within its large, unfragmented forest and wetland complexes. Protecting this fragile property prevents excess nutrients and sediments that are inevitably generated by development from flowing into Indian Brook and Northwest Bay. In 2007 the property had been under threat of development. In response, and unbeknownst to LGLC, a representative of 228 Bolton residents presented a petition to the Bolton Town Board in June of 2007 requesting the Board to protect these lands. That same evening, the Board voted to endorse LGLC’s application for the EPF grant. LGLC also received written support for the grant from Senator Betty Little and Assemblywoman Teresa R. Sayward.

Parks and Preserves like this one don't just appear - the LGLC works with partners and donors to protect land and create public spaces for people to enjoy. You can help us protect more land that protects the lake, and create opportunities for new trails (and take care of the 40 miles of trails we already manage)!

Join us for our 22nd Annual Land and Water Conservation Celebration this weekend - July 30 - August 1! Go to lglc.org/celebration any time this weekend to watch a special video produced to showcase three important projects, then donate - any and all donations are appreciated and make a difference in the future of Lake George. Thank you!

Hi friends! A guest at the park has lost a black dog e-collar, probably on the orange trail or between kayak drop and foot bridge. If you find it, please bring to the LGLC office so we can return it to its owner. Thank you!

The LGLC uses registers to help us keep track of how many people are using certain preserves, and they can be useful resources in emergency situations. The NYS DEC is making recommendations on how to safely continue using trailhead registers to minimize the spread of COVID-19. Check out the link for their list of recommended safety measures when signing in, or, if you choose to avoid the registers, check in to the preserve on Facebook to document that you visited. All of our parks and preserves have their own page; be sure to check in to the correct page (ours all have the LGLC logo as our profile pic)!

The state Department of Environmental Conservation offered recommendations for using trailhead registers during the COVID-19 outbreak.
