This Wagon ..... this wagon has seen a lot. Over the last 4 years, this wagon has traveled to 8 different states following around our girls as they competed at the highest levels of travel softball. They competed their tails off against opponents from California to New York and many states in between, compiling a .673 winning percentage over almost 300 games. This wagon has seen a lot of trophies and championships but not gonna go there because the hardware doesn't matter. Player development matters. Growth matters. The ideal winning percentage to maximize growth occurs at .650, so we weren't too far off and the evidence is how our players developed. Growth - not just on the field, but seeing these girls grow into confident and resilient young ladies - and this is what matters most.
This wagon has seen friendships form and countless memories made, most of which can be carried forward with a smile or laugh. This wagon has seen plenty of failure, tears, adversity, and challenges. This wagon has seen so many lessons about attitude and effort, and hard work. This game requires hard work ... a grind-it-out type of hard work to compete in a game filled with failure that few can appreciate. This wagon has witnessed little, immature, goofy girls turn into young ladies, some of whom remain immature and goofy ... and that's ok. Most important, this wagon has seen growth. The type of growth that will benefit each in life but that can only come as a result of this crazy sport called Softball.
This wagon, well past its useful life and beyond repair, was left in Indiana after competing against the best softball teams in the country for the second year in a row at AFCS. We're soon purchasing a new wagon which will follow around a new version of our team. To those players who will not be part of this new version, we hope this game and our team has shaped you into a better player and a better person, and we wish you nothing but success. To our new version, we can't be more excited to continue this softball journey together after we add one final piece ... the new wagon of course.
