Info for Boise Whitewater Park users.

The City of Boise continues to work with engineering professionals to design and complete modifications to Phase 2 of the Boise Whitewater Park. You may notice new signs along the river between Phase 1 and Phase 2 - these are to guide river users to a portage site (a location where you can easily exit the river and and carry your watercraft to an adjacent river access location) around Phase 2.

Boise Whitewater Park update on closure.

The Whitewater Park will remain closed until Sunday 1/22/23 due to a request for additional survey data. Thank you all whitewater enthusiasts for your patience!

Winter transition news.

Green Wave to Wave/Hole transition will be Monday 12/26/22 at 9:00am instead of Sunday 12/25/22. Also the transition will be Monday 1/2/23 at 9:00am instead of Sunday 1/1/23. Normal winter schedule will resume after the holidays. Thank you winter whitewater enthusiasts!

Check out the Greenbelt closure starting 11/28/2022.

From Energize Boise:

Starting on Monday, November 28, the Greenbelt section between Veterans Park and Esther Simplot Park (ESP) will be closed for work on the installation of an overflow pipe between ponds.

The ESP Pond Overflow project will hydraulically connect the city park ponds. The improvements will increase pond water movement and water quality. This project is coordinated with Public Works and our Department. Our staff will have barricades at the 3 starts of the project as well as this attached sign/detour map. There will be a signed detour as well.

We will be detouring users over onto the Garden City side of the greenbelt. This project is estimated to be completed by the end of February.

The Boise River is running at flood stage and BWWP Boise Whitewater Park is closed until high water conditions change. All park and Greenbelt users are urged to exercise caution around the river.

The Boise Whitewater Park is currently at flood control stage with the river running at 3,000 cfs. Please use extreme caution at these levels. Enter at your own risk and always educate yourself on swift water training. Don’t use leashes at the park, wear a helmet and PFD, and always be aware of your surroundings including the potential for strainers on the river banks.

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the 17 year-old who passed away after being pinned at the Bend Whitewater Park. Our WW Park community is small and a tragedy like this is a stark reminder about why water safety is always top of mind.

Boise Whitewater Park construction closure this Friday, February 18th. Hope the work goes smoothly!

PARK UPDATE: The J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation Boise Whitewater Park is scheduled to close Friday, February 18th for construction. Crews will be installing a new headgate for the irrigation canal. The wave will be closed without a feature for approximately two weeks. Thank you for your understanding as this project is completed.
