We’re coming for you, Portland!

Our team had so much fun at our very first .bike show last summer, there was no way we wouldn’t get in on the fun again this year.

Last year, we loaded up a Uhaul van with a bunch of bikes, parts, prototypes, and merch. This year, we’re bringing more cool bikes, plus some merch featuring fresh art by we can’t wait to show you.

The new Olive Green and Teal Prospectors are out in the wild – and man do they look good!

Olive Green pairs perfectly with silver or black components and tan wall tires, while Teal is a nod to the original Prospector colorway, just a couple shades deeper and a solid match for gold decals.

Our first pre-production sample Ti Sunliner made its way out the door to our pal, Dave Yasuda. This bike is a real beauty and has some of the best specs we have to offer:

    •    Frame: Small Ti Sunliner
    •    Brakes: Shimano Deore XT quad-piston hydraulic brakes
    •    Cranks: Shimano SLX
    •    Headset and Bottom Bracket: Chris King, matte-finish
    •    Wheels: Derby i35 carbon rims laced to silver DT Swiss 240 hubs with silver spokes
    •    Tires: Schwalbe’s Racing Ray and Ralph rubber with tan sidewalls

We’re stoked that this bike is falling into the hands of a Boise local, and can’t wait to see the adventures Dave takes it on. Dave swung by the shop recently to get his rack installed and tell us a little more about the bike, so look out for that video coming soon.

Casey Clark .and.go.slow makes wood-fired pottery in the Great Basin of Northern California. He also happens to be a great guy who makes the best looking bar tape we’ve found.

Camp and Go Slow is the official handlebar tape supplier for Tumbleweed Bikes, and we are huge fans of the playful, organic patterns – Eastern Rattler, Great Horned Owl, Brown Trout, and Western Rattler. Casey’s patterns are all hand designed on 3,300mm of custom-dyed nylon blend yarn, 1.5mm foam backing for just the right amount of cushion, and enough length to wrap around the widest bars on the market.

In Morrocco, Tumbleweed rider Jeroen embarked on a 10/10 bikepacking trip with his Prospector through the Atlas Mountains – a series of mountain ranges with diverse terrain and climates spanning northwestern Africa.

Here’s what Jeroen had to tell us: “Thanks Walt and the rest of the team for design such an awesome bike!!”

These are exactly the journeys Prospectors are made for, and we absolutely love seeing them out in the world doing what they do best.

We have exciting news: today, we’re welcoming back to the Tumbleweed ambassador team! And even better news: he’ll be visiting the shop next week and answering your questions! Send us a DM or comment below with anything you’d like us to ask Greg when he’s in town.

In 2022, Greg loaded up his Prospector and began to head south. This trip began at Alaska’s most northern point with Argentina as the final destination. It’s been three years since he set out on this journey alongside his Prospector, and has since crossed Alaska, the American West, Mexico, and Central America. He’s now continuing his journey, picking up where he left off in Ecuador, and the end of the map is inching closer and closer.

The Prospector has been the only predictable part of his journey. It’s been through every season, every surface, and more terrain and countries than most bikes will see in a lifetime.

Welcome back to the Tumbleweed family, Greg. We’re excited to have you back on our ambassador team, and are grateful to be part of your adventure south. Now let’s ride!

Our Gen 2 Stargazer is a versatile touring frameset for anything from broken pavement to dusty singletrack. Wiley’s take on our second-gen Steel Blue started with a handbuilt wheelset with Vittoria Mezcal 29 x 2.1” tires. This small frame is zippy with a 36T chainring and Tumbleweed’s mechanics agree Shimano’s GRX has the best feedback of any mechanical shifter system out there.

Wiley is 5’4” and has a 67cm saddle height, and still has room on this drop-bar specific frame to go with bigger tires and touring gear when the mountains start calling.
