145mm travel with a 222x63 shock (not included)

Bolt on external continuous housing
31.6mm seat tube with internal dropper routing

Being the holiday season, you may be considering some carbon rims/wheels for you or someone on your list. As carbon proliferates our sport, I've been replacing a lot of broken carbon rims. The profit margin is superior on carbon products, so they are heavily marketed. But the reality is, not all riders are good candidates for carbon components.

Here are some good questions to ask yourself when considering going carbon:

-Do I weigh more than the average rider?
-Do I ride faster downhill than most? (Impact forces increase exponentially with speed, so even if you ride only 2-3mph/kph faster, that can be the difference between a rim lasting 3 months or 3 years)
-Would I be bothered with frequent replacement costs?
-Even with a good warranty, would I be frustrated with sending my wheels away or waiting on parts for repair?

If you answered 'yes' to any of the above, a boring old fashioned aluminum rim may be the better choice.

I combed through my materials and found enough to build two hardtail frames. These will be the last two hardtail frames I build while I concentrate on full suspension frames. I just finished welding the Medium, and will build a Large next.
