The Bluefield Ridge Runners would like to welcome our very own Chris Allen back for his second season. Chris Allen was born in in Newport, Ore., and is a native of San Diego, Calif., where he played at West Hills High School. He was a two time First Team All-Conference player while at West Hills. From West Hills. He went on to play at Southwestern College in Chula Vista, Calif., where he was named First Team All PCAC, All State Honorable Mention, team MVP and held the highest team batting average, stolen bases and doubles during his time at SWC. Allen was also a player/coach for the San Diego Stars in the National Baseball Congress Summer League from 2009-2016, where he was mentored by the late great NBC Hall of Fame Coach Mickey Duetschman.
Following SWC, Allen earned a scholarship to play at Campbellsville University where they finished runner up in the Montgomery Regional bracket but suffered a torn ACL in the final game which set him back for the following year. After a season absence he resumed his college baseball career at Tennessee Wesleyan University. However, another knee injury in which he tore his ACL, PCL and both meniscus during the 15th game of the season ended his playing career. Allen graduated from TWU with a BS in Exercise Science.
Following his playing career, he remained at TWU and coached for 2 full seasons and the shortened COVID season. Allen was apart of two AAC regular season championships, one AAC Tournament championship, two opening round NAIA appearances, one NAIA opening round championship and 2019 NAIA National Champions.
Allen spent a summer as the Head Coach for the Staunton Braves in the Valley Baseball League.
Currenly he is in his 4th season as the Assistant/Hitting Coach at Bluefield University. Allen helped lead the Ram offense to the highest team batting average in the BBCOR era.
Chris married Baylee Sutton in October 2020. They reside in Bluefield, Va., with their three dogs Athena, Benji and Oliver. His mother, Julianne Allen, resides in San Diego, Calif., and his sister in Corvallis, Montana.
