For Immediate Release:

The Bluefield Ridge Runners would like to welcome our very own Chris Allen back for his second season. Chris Allen was born in in Newport, Ore., and is a native of San Diego, Calif., where he played at West Hills High School. He was a two time First Team All-Conference player while at West Hills. From West Hills. He went on to play at Southwestern College in Chula Vista, Calif., where he was named First Team All PCAC, All State Honorable Mention, team MVP and held the highest team batting average, stolen bases and doubles during his time at SWC. Allen was also a player/coach for the San Diego Stars in the National Baseball Congress Summer League from 2009-2016, where he was mentored by the late great NBC Hall of Fame Coach Mickey Duetschman.

Following SWC, Allen earned a scholarship to play at Campbellsville University where they finished runner up in the Montgomery Regional bracket but suffered a torn ACL in the final game which set him back for the following year. After a season absence he resumed his college baseball career at Tennessee Wesleyan University. However, another knee injury in which he tore his ACL, PCL and both meniscus during the 15th game of the season ended his playing career. Allen graduated from TWU with a BS in Exercise Science.
Following his playing career, he remained at TWU and coached for 2 full seasons and the shortened COVID season. Allen was apart of two AAC regular season championships, one AAC Tournament championship, two opening round NAIA appearances, one NAIA opening round championship and 2019 NAIA National Champions.

Allen spent a summer as the Head Coach for the Staunton Braves in the Valley Baseball League.
Currenly he is in his 4th season as the Assistant/Hitting Coach at Bluefield University. Allen helped lead the Ram offense to the highest team batting average in the BBCOR era.

Chris married Baylee Sutton in October 2020. They reside in Bluefield, Va., with their three dogs Athena, Benji and Oliver. His mother, Julianne Allen, resides in San Diego, Calif., and his sister in Corvallis, Montana.

For Immediate Release:

The Bluefield Ridge Runners would like to welcome Justin Thomas, who serves as the pitching coach at Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi in joining us as pitching coach for the summer of 2024.

Thomas was recently named pitching at Jackson State in August 2023. Prior to Jackson State, Thomas spent the previous five seasons as Head Baseball Coach at Bethany College (NCAA Division III) in West Virginia, leading the Bison to 84 wins during his tenure. Bethany tied a school-record with 27 wins in 2019, finishing as the runners-up in the conference. During his time with the Bison, head coached three pitchers who reached the 100-career strikeout mark. In 2022, the team set a new single season strikeout record with 233 strikeouts.

Thomas brings a wealth of collegiate summer league coaching experience to the Ridge Runners. In addition to his stint at Bethany, he served as pitching coach for the 2022 MLB Draft League Champion West Virginia Blackbears, as well as a player development coach with the Elizabethton RiverRiders in the Appalachian League in 2021. Thomas has also served as pitching coach in other collegiate summer leagues such as: Cal Ripken, NYCBL, Prospect, Ohio Valley, Carolina-Virginia, and Myrtle Beach League.

Before coming to Bethany College, Thomas spent four years as head coach at Voorhees College (NAIA) in Denmark, S.C. His 2017 team posted a 20-win season, the program's best mark in 15 years. From 2012-2014, Thomas served as Penn-State University – Greater Allegheny pitching coach, helping the program to a pair of conference championships and a national runner-up finish in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).

Thomas pitched collegiately at Slippery Rock University, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in social work, before graduating from the United States Sports Academy with a dual Master’s degree in Sport Management and Sport Coaching. Thomas also has USA Weightlifting Level 1 Certification and Rapsodo Hitting and Pitching Certifications.

The Bluefield Ridge Runners would like to welcome Jerry Greely back to Bluefield for his second season with the Ridge Runners.

Jerry is a 20 year veteran in the Baltimore Orioles Organization, including 8 seasons in Bluefield.

He spent 2 seasons with Cincinnati Reds organization as a coach in Billings Montana and Gulf Coast League.

Jerry Greely was a member of the coaching staff for the 1997 Appalachian League Championship team in Bluefield. That team was managed by longtime major league coach Bobby Dickerson

Jerry was an integral member of the staff of Bluefield in 97, 98, and then again from

2005 to 2010 …. 8 total years, including 2010 the last season affiliated with Baltimore

Jerry has been a college baseball coach and high school special education teacher for the past 34 years. Currently the head coach at King’s College in Pennsylvania

Greely spent the 2022 Season on the Trenton Thunder coaching staff in the MLB DRAFT League managed by longtime major league player and hitting Coach Jeff Manto

The Bluefield Ridge Runners Announce 2024 Manager

The Bluefield Ridge Runners are proud to announce that Drew Dosch will be the team manager for the 2024 season. Drew lives in Canal Wi******er, Ohio with his wife Carly and daughter Quinn.

He attended Youngstown State University earning a list of honorable achievements including:
- 2-time 2nd Team Academic All American (only two-time winner in YSU history)
- 2024 Youngstown State Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee
- 2012 and 2013 First-Team All Horizon League selection
- Summer Ball: Prospect League (2011) and Cape Cod League (2012) All-Star

He was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in 2013 as a 7th round draft pick and earned several more awards throughout his professional career including:
- Three MiLB all-star selections in five seasons:
2014 Delmarva (Low-A)
2015 Frederick (High-A)
2018 Norfolk (AAA)
- Delmarva Shorebirds (A) Single Season Hits record holder (158)
- 2016 Elrod Hendricks Minor League Community Service Award Winner

Drew has served as Head Coach at Canal Wi******er High School 2021-2023 with a winning record of: 50-29
2022 Conference Champions
2022 Ohio Capital Conference Coach of the Year
