I am so proud of all of my girls! Way too many great things for a video! 1st, congrats to the 16u and 10u Storm softball teams for coming out tournament champs!!! Teams played hard and fought through the cold all weekend. Overall, we had 109 strikeouts this weekend, only 47 walks and a strike percentage of 58%!!! Congrats to Timberly on her perfect game for the 12u Storm on Saturday! Congrats to Keagan on her no hitter tossed for the 10u Storm in their championship game (just shy of a perfect game)! My group of hitters averaged . 750, .541, .500, .500 and .429! Outstanding job girls! Keep working hard!

Girls had a great weekend out! Lots of progress made this off season! On the offensive side we had a home run, 5 doubles, and batting averages of .500 and .750! On the pitching side of things the girls had a combined 67 strikeouts, threw 56% strikes and 10 out of the 12 girls playing threw more than 50% strikes! All of my older girls were over 60%!!! When we talk about throwing strikes, new pitchers have initial goal of throwing 50% strikes each outing. College pitchers will have goals of 70% strikes to give you perspective. Here is the highlight reel I pulled from gamechanger videos. Keep working girls!!! I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season will bring:) Now if my own kid could start games🙄😆🥎❤️🥎❤️

Over the last weekend I was able to watch so much College softball! YAY! 🧡… it’s Awesome! So, I thought, 👋 wouldn’t it be fun 🤩, to talk about some of my observations:

The best and the most competitive pitchers in college softball right now have ~2 dominant pitches. That’s right, just 2!! not 5, not 7, not variations of everything 2 dominant pitches.
Big Lesson Here: Simplify to Grow
Usually they have a third pitch that is well it’s not quite as consistent, but they continue to use it… let’s call it the “complimentary” pitch. What does that mean exactly? … it means it has it’s good days and “so-so days 😬” days but when used correctly it makes the two dominant pitches look a million times better!! Whether, it’s a good day or a so-so day the complimentary pitch improves the quality of the “dominant pitches. ✅. Got it? It compliments my two dominant pitches: by changing eye line, direction, speed or giving the wrist a change movement patterns and… on a rare day… it just might steal the show.
Pitching is like real estate… location location location! And the pitchers that are struggling, giving up hard hits, are missing that. Sure 🤷‍♀️ we all get away with a missed spot here and there 🤫, that’s normal. But if you consistently are missing locations it’ll catch up to you. So Consistentcy matters not just in movement but in intention and in location.
🎶So Laaaaddies, “Yea”🎶 Laaaddies, “Yea” the Lesson here : in your practices, focus intentionally throwing to your location.
