This is sad news to hear today! We have ran Frankland Racing Supply rear ends for the last 12-13 years! Their service was second to none and we had really good luck with their products over the years! We would like to personally thank Fred and Alex for all the awesome help and answering questions throughout the years!
Another legendary piece of circle track racing history is coming to an end. Frankland Racing Supply, one of the most iconic and respected names in grassroots racing, has officially announced it will be closing its doors in 2026 after decades of serving racers all across America.
Founded in 1947 by Jim Frankland, Frankland Racing Supply helped revolutionize oval track racing by developing the standard 6 bolt quick-change rear end design, a game changing innovation that forever changed how racers handled gear changes at the track. In the early days, Frankland’s designs even utilized 1949 Studebaker truck parts before the company continued evolving and innovating with aluminum axle tubes and double-splined axles that allowed for varied axle lengths and improved performance.
What started in Detroit before eventually moving to Florida during the booming stock car racing era became one of the most trusted and respected names in racing performance and durability.
In 1985, Jim Frankland sold the business to two longtime employees, keeping the company’s racing driven roots alive. Then in 1993, racer Ed Ferree, someone who had trusted and used Frankland products for years himself, purchased the company and relocated it to Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, where it continued serving the circle track racing community for decades to come.
For generations of racers, the Frankland name has meant toughness, reliability, and blue collar racing excellence. From local Saturday night racers working in dimly lit garages to championship winning teams competing at the highest levels, Frankland rear ends and components became staples throughout Modifieds, Late Models, Sprint Cars, Street Stocks, and countless other divisions.
After more than three decades under the Ferree family’s ownership, this news is a HUGE blow to the racing community. These kinds of places are more than businesses, they’re part of the backbone of the sport.
Every racer probably knows someone who ran Frankland parts, called them for advice before a big race, or trusted their products to hold together for one more lap chasing a checkered flag.
The sport continues to evolve, but losing longtime staples like Frankland Racing Supply is a reminder of just how much history and tradition lives within grassroots racing and how times are changing fast.
Thank you to Jim Frankland, Ed Ferree, the Ferree family, and everyone who helped build Frankland Racing Supply into a legendary name in racing history. The impact you made on circle track racing will never be forgotten🏁
