Hello, Vixen friends and family!
Over the past few months, Vindicated Vixens Roller Derby has hit some unforeseen obstacles. Most challenging has been the indefinite closure of our practice space and home, Markham Roller Rink. We investigated many options and pitched creative solutions. Ultimately, we determined that the best way to ensure our skaters could continue to get the practice time and structure they needed was to join forces with our neighbors. Our team is disbanding, but we're glad to see our current members keep the Vixen spirit alive and continue their derby adventures with fellow Chicagoland leagues.
We want to publicly thank the Illiana Derby Dames and Chicago Outfit Roller Derby for working with us and being so welcoming! Both went the extra mile to accommodate our diverse range of skill levels, commitment levels, and unique needs. As a result, the majority of our members were able to find the right fit at either IDD or Outfit. We're grateful to have a local derby community that is kind, thoughtful, and extends a helping hand.
Earlier this year we marked our 5th anniversary, and we couldn't be more thankful for all of the memories, accomplishments, and good times we've shared together. For so many of us, being a Vixen has been a life-changing experience. We gained confidence, found happiness, and joined a derby family that has each others' backs. None of that can be taken away, and we'll bring it with us wherever we go.
Thanks to you, our supporters, for rolling along with us all of these years. If you have a favorite Vixens memory to share, we'd love to hear it! Let's swap stories in the comments. And keep an eye out in the future--we're hoping to have an annual reunion scrimmage. We'd love to see you there!
Until then, with derby love,
the Vindicated Vixens
