Last month, we quietly released our first-ever throwback USA hockey sweater on our website.

Like everything we make at Third Assist, we wanted this design to nod to hockey history. With this sweater, we set out to pay tribute to the roots of American hockey while celebrating the country we call home.

We’re proud to be American and proud to be an American small business.

It may be World Cup season, but in Canada, hockey is front and center all year long.

To celebrate Canada Day, we're sharing one of our favorite new sweater designs—and one of our favorite Canadian stories:

This sweater pays tribute to the 1948 Royal Canadian Air Force Flyers, the team that captured Olympic gold against all odds.

The full story is too good (and too long) for a social media post, but here's the short version. There was a time when Canada wasn't expected to win every international tournament. The RCAF Flyers were a hastily assembled team of service members and amateur players based around Ottawa. After struggling in pre-tournament exhibition games, few gave them much of a chance.

Then they traveled to Switzerland for the Olympic tournament and they shocked the hockey world.

The Flyers won six games, claimed Olympic gold, and restored Canada's hockey pride in the years following World War II. They weren't a polished national all-star team—they were a group that came from seemingly nowhere, played for each other and their country, and wrote one of the great underdog stories in hockey history.

We only shared one Red Wings post last year, but behind the scenes we were lucky enough to work with the team on a few projects for their Centennial celebration. Third Assist gloves and sticks made their way to Detroit as part of the celebration of 100 years of Red Wings Hockey. One day we'll put together a blog post about the custom projects with the awesome team there.

Pictured here is a pregame showcase celebrating 100 years of Red Wings hockey, featuring our genuine leather Roosevelt gloves and a couple all-ash ceremonial sticks we helped put together. Getting the chance to play a small role in celebrating the history of one of hockey's most iconic franchises was a season highlight for a couple hockey nerds like us.

Continuing the 2026 product drops..

Our throwback — or “fauxback” — stick series inspired by the sticks from our childhoods has become one of our favorite creative pursuits yet.

The original “rubber” hockey stick was iconic, and for this release we reimagined the design under the TAHO (Third Assist Hockey) name to keep the aesthetics clean while honoring the era that inspired it.

This marks stick #3 in our 2026 throwback composite collection. Keep an eye out for the final model, or visit our site to check out all four releases. More new products are in the pipeline for Summer 2026. Stay tuned!

Over the past three years, our genuine leather Frontier gloves have quietly become our most popular traditional (non-outdoor) glove model. That success sparked a deeper interest in bringing classic leather materials back to the ice.

Now introducing the 2026 Wrangler Model.

Built on the same traditional four-roll design as the Frontiers, the Wrangler wraps the glove in premium tan cowhide leather. Slightly thicker, tougher, and smoother-grained than our Frontier leather, the Wrangler starts firm but breaks in beautifully over time.

A new heritage-inspired glove built for players who appreciate hockey at its roots.

When it comes to the sticks we choose for our watch series, the Canadien 6001 is one of the most niche selections we've made yet.

The Canadien brand itself was founded in 1969 by legendary Montréal Canadiens players, and the 6001 Fibre de Verre became one of its most iconic models. Crafted from dense maple and engineered to be one of the lightest sticks on the market at the time, the 6001 represented a unique era of hockey innovation and craftsmanship.

But like many great pieces of hockey history, both the stick and the brand slowly faded from the game. Now we’re bringing a small piece of that history back.

Introducing the Canadien 6001 Origins Watch — handcrafted from a 1991 Canadien 6001 Fibre de Verre stick and rebuilt into something you can wear every day.

Only 25 of this design to be made and they just released on our site this week. Keep an eye out for few more designs to come this spring.

Are you Team Canada or Team USA?

As a hockey fan, it’s hard not to get pumped when Olympic season rolls around. We’re about to witness the best international hockey of the last decade.

In honor of two of the greatest hockey countries, we’re releasing a new line of leather gloves called the Revival Series. We’ve watched leather glove options slowly fade from the game, so we decided to make pairs like the ones we grew up with. Each model has a unique coloring and glove lining representing a specific geography. This is drop 1 of 4 🇺🇸

Back in 2024 we released our first composite throwback stick, the Third Assist “Aluminum” model. It turned out to get a pretty fun reception which led to us dreaming up the next stick.

Fast forward to 2026 and we now have the TAHO Evolution throwback composite stick. Inspired by the iconic KOHO Revolution used by the greats in the early 90s, the TAHO Evolution features the traditional black and yellow styling, faux blade wrap, and a composite wood-grain blade.

This is the 2nd of 4 concepts in our throwback series. If you’re curious, we released all four designs on our site earlier this season. What stick do you want to see next?

We’re doing a product announcement and giveaway in one. We’re excited to share our 2026 Classique Premium Junior Outdoor Gloves (sizes 9-11”). We’ve been fighting to create a pair of youth gloves as cool + functional as our popular Senior Classiques we released in 2023, and we’ve finally pulled it off. These quickly became favorites before the holidays, and today we’re finally sharing on social media and giving away three(!) pairs to some lucky kids.
