Our friends at Sea Kayak Stonington shared this a few weeks ago, and it's still resonating with us. For all of us in the industry, safety is our number one concern and we see it as our priority to spend as much time informing our customers of the inherent risks of the local waters and we do with sharing tips on our favorite spots to explore.
It's been a month since that post and the water is still dangerously cold. Even with today's temps, our weather app has been pinging us with a "beach hazard" warning. Warm air and cold water is something to pay attention to. It's why we offer wetsuits free with all rentals, or for a small fee if you have your own equipment.
We live in a very small community and we're all only a few connections apart from those who were impacted by these accidents in May. So, let's take care of each other out there.
Stay safe as we venture into summer. There is so much to enjoy! We're a phone call away if you have questions or want to make plans to enjoy the water!
