If you’ve ever heard that the big walleyes swim with the big carp…they were not lying to you!

What felt and seemed to be another big carp ended up being a beautiful walleye!

If you’re only going to catch one for the night…make it a good one!

Last night we went to a local river in search of some tugs on the other end of the rod…the river never disappoints!

What started as a walleye trip rapidly turned into a “how big of carp and redhorse can I catch” trip. Arms tired, and smiles big, we had a great evening of catching big, hard-fighting fish!

There’s one more…but we will save that for later 😉

These home-picked night crawlers disappeared fast tonight and caught some GIANTS!Stay tuned 😎

Crappie minnow? Walleye minnow? Fathead?

Species 61 of 2026 is the fathead minnow. The most common and abundant bait minnow species is not an easy one to catch by hook and line! This male was hiding under a rock and protecting the nest that attaches to the bottom side of rocks when he decided to sneak out and have a snack. We are glad he did!

The bumps on his head are breeding tubercles. Many minnow species’ males get them to protect their nests during spawning season!
