WHY WE ARE HERE
We love all things kizomba! We are inspired to learn as much as we can - African body movement, semba, kizomba, urban kizomba, tarraxinha, and afrohouse - and share that learning to build a rich Kizomba community. THE CINCIKIZ CREW
That's our name to describe the most dedicated kizombier@s in Cincinnati. These are the most inspiring people, fun-loving people ever! And I am so happy
to have them all as friends and fellow learners in this journey. You'll eventually meet them, if you haven't already, and I am sure you'll eventually see photos here of us dancing and having a great time together. Like many, I discovered kizomba by chance watching YouTube, vegging out on salsa videos (my first love). I was intrigued by the infectious music and beauty of the dance. I was compelled to understand how it worked, and spent hours trying to teach myself, as there was no opportunity to learn here. In 2013 (or maybe 2014), I finally had a chance to take my first kizomba workshop in Indianapolis with Charles Ogar. I was so excited to finally see kizomba danced live and experience the dance myself. Following that event, I was even more excited to learn, so I traveled regionally, nationally, and internationally to learn kizomba and to network with the most amazing dancers. My plan was to just learn the dance, but friends and other new dancers eventually encouraged me to begin teaching. And what fun it has been. My students are some are truly special to me. They come ready to learn, and it warms my heart to watch them fall in love with kizomba. I take my student's learning very seriously. I am committed to continuing my learning in all the areas mentioned above, not only for my own personal growth, but also so that I can provide the best learning experience that I can for my students.
