🔹health + happiness through fitness + nutrition Sounds complicated, but in all honestly it’s simple and has been proven to work.

Founder Greg Glassman defines CrossFit as “constantly varied, functional movement, performed at high intensity”. CrossFit is not a specialized fitness program but a deliberate attempt to optimize physical competence in each of the ten recognized fitness domains. They are Cardiovascular/Respiratory endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance and Accuracy.

CrossFit combines elements of Olympic weightlifting, power lifting, gymnastics, sprinting, rowing and core conditioning to improve overall fitness. Here’s a little more detail:

“Constantly Varied”- Our workouts are always different. We do not want to let your body get used to doing the same, repetitive movements or exercises. Through variety, you will see the greatest changes and adaptations.

“Functional Movement”- We all want to be ready for anything that life throws at us. Why not incorporate this into your fitness program? Functional Movement refers to maintaining the safest, most-efficient position to power through a movement. There are plenty of misconceptions out there about CrossFit; the truth is much of what we do in our workouts mirrors activities in our daily lives. To the uninitiated, flipping a tire looks like crazy, “He-Man” work. But if you’ve ever had to move a mattress up a flight of stairs, you already know the movement. Power cleaning a heavy barbell may appear odd, but consider what your body does when you place your suitcase in a plane’s overhead compartment. If you’ve ever lifted a heavy sofa when helping a friend move, no one needs to tell you the importance of protecting your back. CrossFit will help you understand and maintain the correct positions in a workout which translates into real life. This will help to keep you safe as well as to maximize efficiency.

“High Intensity”- Here is where YOU come in! We will write the program, teach you the movements and make sure you are doing everything properly, but you are the one that has to bring the intensity to each training day. There is plenty of research out there so we won’t bore you with the science- Shorter duration, high intensity workouts are proven to increase fitness levels. Period. The beauty of our sport is that we are all in it together, motivating one another. Our coaches and your fellow athletes will push you through workouts you never thought you’d finish AND you will all be giving each other high fives when you are done!

We are excited to announce we are starting a new program dedicated to the homeschool community! If you homeschool your kids and are looking for a "gym class" experience, look no further!

Ages 5-11, Mondays at 1 PM. We begin next month on 7/7!
