MLF Stop #2 at Lake Chickamauga is a wrap.
Caleb Dugger and Kolby Gambrel lead the team this week with an 11th Place finish dropping 17 pounds 9 ounces on the scales. This qualifies them for the MLF National Championship in April!

Thank you to all of our sponsors! All of this wouldn’t be possible without our great sponsors.

What is the price of a rod?

I built my first rod in 1995 for myself and made a few for friends and family. As the kids grew older, I began TFR Custom Rods as more time became available. As a custom rod builder, I build what you want. You will rarely see pricing as I only build a handful to take to shows and the rest are designed by the customer. I am licensed to do University of Tennessee fishing rods using their logos. My work on the rod is done in thread, rarely will I use stickers unless the customer ask for it.

If you are interested in a price quote, send me a message. Include the type of rod that you are interested in using: length, power, action, type of fishing (flipping, swimbaits, jigs, etc), include lure range that will be used. Also, type of handle: cork, carbon fiber, Tennessee handle, Winn Grips, foam, or we can discuss custom handles if interested. If you have a preference in guides, please include that information, also we will discuss pros and cons of each. If you have a blank preference, please include, I can get most blanks available, however some manufacturers do not sale blanks. I have recommendations for blanks, however, there is a give and take with each decision.

The designs on the rod such as: name, logo, silhouettes, spiral wraps, etc, are all done with thread and patience. Each unique design will require time to design prior to putting on the rod. If this is a new and difficult design, I have in the past spend many hours on a weave only to cut it off when it was complete due to not being satisfied with the final appearance. I will typically have more than 20 hours of work in a true custom rod with weaves, no worries, you aren’t charged by the hour. This is just stated to let you know that the time frame to which I will need to complete the rod is weeks after receiving all the material. Each time epoxy is applied, it will need to dry overnight.

Send a message and let me know if you would like a price range on a rod. I will reply with my phone number and we can discuss. I do have a few rods in stock that are handmade but not custom to you. My goal is to not just make a fishing rod, but to make a rod that is of high quality, that surpasses your needs on the water, and means something to the angler.
