gen peroxide rocket car racing These cars turned into land locked missiles and gave new meaning to the term "Land speed record" When you think of speeds of over 300 miles per hour, you immediately think of the Bonneville Salt Flats. these rocket cars brought their speeds to drag strips in just about every state in the United States. I was fortunate enough to work side by side with those modern-day gladiators, who pushed their own human limits as they burst onto the scene in their wonderous, missile-like vehicles. It was my era, and I dove into it with all my heart, soul. and sweat, hoping, along with everyone else. to achieve goals and records never thought possible. I was witness to the thousands upon thousands of spectators all over the globe who became thrilled, amazed, and educated as they embraced the new sport of rocket car racing.

Blue Flame Rocket Car

On This Day - 23rd October 1970

Fifty years ago today Gary Gabelich drove 'The Blue Flame' to a new World Land Speed Record. The Reaction Dynamic team's mile record of 622.407mph stood until when 1983 when Richard Noble raised it to 633.468mph. However, the faster kilometre speed of 630.388mph wasn't officially beaten until 1997 and Thrust SSC's supersonic campaign.
