EST1987 Our passion for fishing has brought this club together and continues to grow each year.

The Indiana University Bass Fishing Club is compiled of over 40 bass fishing enthusiasts who are dedicated to the preservation and conservation of our land and water resources. The IU Bass Fishing Club was the first college fishing team, established in 1987, and has since grown to be nationally recognized in MLF, Collegiate and College BASS events. We sent three teams to the championship on Pickwick Lake in Alabama last week. Overall it was a pretty solid derb for the guys earning some respectable finishes. Big thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters that help us out! 🔴⚪️

We sent three boats to the Indiana BASS nation state championship at Geist last weekend. Nick and Jake lead the pack with a second place finish missing the win by less than half a pound. Heartbreaking given that the Winner qualifies for the national championship in August! We are heading to Pickwick Lake for the national championship in just under two weeks. Stay tuned and wish us luck!!

The 4” chigger craw is a staple on the back of a jig for our team, and was a key player in Dre and Eli’s win over Purdue!

We were invited out to a private lake in Indianapolis for a small club tournament and put on quite the smash fest. Alex and Eli took home the W with 17.01lbs and a 4.25 BB!

Between the 3 boats we caught over 200 keeper bass and had an absolute ball casting at fish that had never seen lures before. We can’t wait to get back out here!

We had our annual tournament against Purdue this past weekend for the Old Minnow Bucket at Morse. We sent 4 boats and Purdue sent 5 boats. Our guys were able to get 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th to take home the win for the Hoosiers by a huge margin! Congrats to underclassmen Dre and Eli on the win with 15lbs, the future of the team is in good hands!!

Retired IU professor and founder of the IU bass club back in 1987 Steve Lutz was able to make it out from Illinois. He said multiple times that this was the best day of his entire life!

Thank you everyone for coming out and supporting us at our 2026 spring fundraiser tournament! Blake and Rod put on quite a showing catching 30lbs 6oz and a 7lb 6oz big fish, winning the tournament by over 16 pounds!! Shoutout to for sponsoring this event. We are looking forward to hosting our next fundraiser in the fall!!
