Shane Doles Racing was founded in 1994 when Shane Doles started his ARCA racing career. However his drive and passion started many years before that. Shane began racing in 1976 running go-karts at Lamar County Speedway. He continued with go-karts until 1983 and won many races and won the GA State Championship. This is where he found his passion for road racing, and moved up to run a Formula 440 in

SCCA. After a few years in the Formula 440, he wanted to expand his racing career and ran the local Dirt Tracks for several seasons. He then bought a Late Model Stock asphalt car and ran at Lanier Raceway and Peachstate Speedway. From 1994 to 1999 he ran a limited ARCA schedule with sponsors, Old Clinton Gas, 49 Wrecker Service, Riverside Ford and most memorable Cellular One. In November 1999 the Road Racing bug bit again and the story of Formula Mazda racing began. For the past 16 years we have run with the South Atlantic Road Racing series, with many wins and 3 championship. Shane has taken a break from racing for the past 3 years but he is back with another Formula Mazda and RX-7 to run STL. Our goal is the Road to Indy in 2017. Follow us and find out how our odds are stacking up.

I copied this and it is so true.

THE LIFE THAT MANY WILL NOT UNDERSTAND
(except for most of my racing family 😉)
I own 2 race cars because of a personal life choice.
One day when I am very old and when I can not drive competitively anymore, it will be in my garage as a trophy of my memories.
I have met people who taught me something and have the same spirit.
I meet people now who get wisdom from me.
I get wet,
I get cold,
I have been hot,
I was afraid,
I fell & I stood up,
I even hurt myself,
I laughed out loud with the wind.
I spoke a thousand times with myself and still do.
I sang and shouted with joy like a madman, & yes ... sometimes I cried.
I have seen wonderful places because of racing
I have made moves on track that even my friends would be proud of; other times I made corners full of terror.
I stopped the rig in route to an event many times to see a landscape.
I spoke with perfect strangers.
I’ve spoke to God.
I go out with frustrations inside and return home with a feeling of absolute peace in my heart.
I sometimes think how dangerous it is, knowing that the meaning of courage is to advance even feeling fear.
Every time I go out to my car I think about how wonderful it is.
I’ve learned through gestures to communicate with other drivers.
I spend money that I do not have, I gave up many things, but it's all worth it...
My car is not a means of transportation but is a piece of steel, aluminum and fiberglass with wheels that I am blessed with, it's part of who I am.
I love my friends and the joy of great people & race cars!.. May the angels guard my travels, for they know the road ahead of me...

Great weekend, weather was perfect, getting back in a car even better. This is the first race in this car, still needs some work but overall a good start. Shane qualified on the pole and ran one heck of a race. This was not a give me win, he had to work for this one. Thank you for all the kind birthday wishes to our “old race car driver”.

Not a bad way to spend a weekend!

Not a bad way to spend a weekend!

The countdown is on 10 more days and we will see what our “OLD” racer can do. What a way to celebrate your Birthday than doing what you love. Time to put that 97 back on track.

We’ve made a lot of progress at Shane Doles racing headquarters. Thanks to everyone that has come by painted, thrown piles of junk away, hung lights, swept the floor, brought food and just hung out. Our hearts are full with all the support.
