The legacy of West Hills Middle School continues to live on through the people and traditions that shaped it.

The John Farrell Athletic Award, established in honor of longtime teacher and coach John Farrell, recognized students who embodied dedication, sportsmanship, and school pride.

Recently, former WHMS principal and current Eastover Elementary principal, Andy Gignac had the honor of presenting these plaques to John Farrell’s son, Shane Farrell. This was a meaningful moment that celebrates not only a remarkable educator in BHS, but the lasting impact he had on generations of students.

We are pleased to share that Da'Ron Mason has been nominated for the Detroit Free Press Boys Basketball Player of the Year 🏀 ! Da'Ron became the fourth leading scorer in program history finishing with 1,246 career points. He averaged 17.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.7 steals.

Are you ready to make BHHS history? Join the inaugural BHHS girls flag football team 🏈 💜 🖤

Free clinics:
March 7, 1:30-3 p.m., SHMS Field House
March 15, 1:30-3 p.m., SHMS Field House

Tryouts will take place on March 21 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the SHMSF Field House. Practices will be the week of March 23.

All current BHHS football players, and future BHHS football players (grades 7-8) are invited to train with the high school coaching staff!

Players should wear workout clothing, gym shoes, and bring something to drink. Parents are welcome to stay and watch the workouts. Football boosters will provide a light breakfast for players on Friday, March 6

Congratulations to Kayla Nwabueze for being named the 2025-26 Gatorade Michigan Volleyball Player of the Year🏐 👏 🙌 ! The Gatorade Player of the Year is the highest distinction in high school athletics, honoring student-athletes who excel in competition, academics, and community leadership. Kayla is set to continue excelling in both the classroom and in competition as she heads to Harvard University this fall.
