Oakland Hills Country Club enters a defining new chapter with the unveiling of its new clubhouse. Its timeless American design, marked by a ten-pillared veranda and white wood siding, restores the presence of one of golf’s great venues.

While reimagined, the clubhouse honors the scale and spirit of C. Howard Crane’s original design throughout. From the inviting Living Room with sweeping views of the South Course to signature dining and lounge spaces, every detail blends tradition with modern club life. A new terrace, grand ballroom, and second-floor balconies provide striking views and gathering spaces for members and guests.

The clubhouse also introduces beautifully appointed locker rooms. An expanded women’s locker room offers a collection of intimate spaces, while the two-story men’s features an open mezzanine design connecting its two levels and a striking open truss ceiling.

Throughout, 26 curated heritage displays and more than 450 historic photographs and artwork celebrate the club’s championship legacy, prominently showcasing its USGA trophies and those still to come.

“This iconic building stands again as a reflection of our membership’s pride and commitment and reestablishes Oakland Hills as one of the finest clubs in the world,” said Club President Michael G. Costello.

Now open for daily use, the clubhouse is already being embraced by members, with its spaces actively used for dining, gathering and social events, marking the beginning of a remarkable new era at Oakland Hills.

STANDING TALL AGAIN - The members of Oakland Hills Country Club will walk through the doors of their new clubhouse for the first time this April, marking the culmination of the Club’s ambitious “Next 100 Project,” which broke ground in December of 2023 following the loss of its century-old clubhouse to fire in February 2022.

The new clubhouse was meticulously planned to be among the world’s finest in both finish and function, with architectural details throughout that evoke Howard C. Crane’s original design. Standing tall once again is the white, 10-pillared veranda, just steps from the #1 and #10 tee boxes of the South Course, which will continue to host numerous USGA championships in the decades ahead.

“This clubhouse reflects the membership’s deep pride in Oakland Hills, honoring our iconic history while boldly investing in a future worthy of it. It is a testament to the commitment of our members and ensures that Oakland Hills remains among the most distinguished and enduring private clubs in the world,” said General Manager and COO Marc D. Ray.

Oakland Hills' 110-year legacy and championship history are proudly on display throughout the two-story building, which includes member locker rooms, dining areas, lounges, and a grand ballroom, all offering expansive views of the acclaimed South Course.

The private Club’s new Golf Shop will debut later this month, followed by the clubhouse welcoming members on Easter Sunday, when more than 1,600 are expected for brunch. The following week will feature a soft opening for members, culminating in a Grand Opening Celebration.

During a recent meeting with the membership, Club President Michael Costello reflected on the project, saying, “While championship golf has defined Oakland Hills on the world stage, the true spirit of the Club has always been found in the families, friendships, and traditions shared here. Our new clubhouse ensures that sense of community will endure for generations to come.”

Trevor Gutschewski is the 76th U.S. Junior Amateur champion!

Gutschewski claimed the victory 4 and 3 in the 36-hole final match on the South Course Saturday. He closed out a hard fought match on with a two-putt for par on the 15th hole of the South Course.

We wish Trevor and runner-up Tyler Watts the best of luck as they head to Hazeltine National in two weeks to compete in the 2024 U.S. Amateur.

AFTER ROUND 1: Only 28 of the 264 players finished their opening day under par. Mack Edwards recorded a 66, nearly tying the competitive South Course record of 65.

Tomorrow, players will swap courses for their second round of stroke play. The low-64 at the end of the day will advance to match play beginning Wednesday.
