The end of the school year also means TKD testing. Some old school training, but fun, for the little ones (they had never done before) and new heights for those testing for blue belt. For those wondering what happens to testing boards, when taking home boards from tests become not cool, if you have a fireplace, pit, or woodstove, one enjoys the world's most expensive kindling.

It's testing time. The little dragons had their first test - a test to learn about testing. Some had fashionable layered uniforms to protect against a chilly day, vinyl flooring, in the Block Island School cafeteria. Everyone did very well. The first set of older kids did great and have no doubt the second set, a little behind due to the demands of drama club, will be ready for testing next week. Classes will resume mid January.

You just never know how sharing a little information can instantly spark common ground and interesting conversations. At a randomly chosen Airbnb in Anakiwa, New Zealand the host shared in the house info packet he was involved in Judo. A bit of an understatement, it turns out Shayne Jacks is from the UK and has lived in NZ for a long time and got wrangled into teaching and being on the board of Judo NZ. His brother is a Judo legend Brian Jacks
