I'm seeing multiple daily posts in online community groups from parents seeking a Swim Instructor for their child this Summer. The best advice I can share is to ask the following when you inquire:
-What qualifies the Instructor to be teaching your child?
-What skills can be expected to be INDEPENDENT at the end of the lessons?
-How long will it take to get to the point that your child has independent and reliable swimming and floating skills?
-Is the Instructor insured?
As an ISR Instructor, I went through an intensive 6 week in-water training course with an ISR Master Instructor, fully qualified to provide training on the flagship self-rescue program. Not only did I have in-water hands on for a minimum of 75 hours, I had extensive studies in anatomy, physiology, and child psychology. I am fully insured to teach at any location and each year go through rigorous continuous education requirements. Not many swim programs can say that!
I’m proud to be a certified ISR Master Instructor of 18 years, and can’t imagine doing anything else- this is not a side hustle for me, it is my full time career. To find a certified ISR instructor in your area, visit www.infantswim.com, if you are looking for someone and they are not listed on this site, they are NOT certified with ISR.
