Let the Gains Begin!

We realize that it’s been a pretty challenging time for everyone during the “stay at home” order that we’ve been under. We sincerely hope that every one of you is doing well in spite of the circumstances and that you’ve been able to stay healthy in the interim.
First of all we wanted to say how thankful we are to all of you, our loyal customers, and encourage those of you who have let your membership’s lapse to come on in and start getting your summer beach bod back in shape.
With that, we wanted to announce that the Blanco Sweat Shop Gym is now open but in order to keep in line with the guidelines of social distancing and necessary hygiene we wanted to list a few of the requirements as you start using the gym again. If you don’t feel comfortable about coming in yet, no problem; we will be here when you’re ready.
• We call our gym “the best little gym in Blanco” and because the space is limited please limit the amount of people using the gym at one time to 8.
• Please continue to practice cleanliness by disinfecting all the equipment that you use. If you find that the gym is running low on cleaning supplies please send us a text message and we will be sure to resupply what is needed.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. We appreciate your patronage and hope to see you in the gym, moving weights and getting into shape.

New shipment in, come get some.

So you’re a member of “Sweat Shop Blanco” gym: Good for you! Most members of a gym join because they do not like how they are feeling physically much less how their physical bodies look. For those of you who have made the commitment to take better care of yourselves and have overcome the mind battles it takes to stay true to your commitments, I say you’re on the right track but you may be missing an important element in your routine that will contribute to your overall progress and gains in the gym.

I have been asked many questions over the last year or so and most of the answers to these questions come back to the core of the problem that most do not take as seriously as they should. What is the answer, you ask; Nutrition, Nutrition, Nutrition!!

Remember!—You get fit in the kitchen and you get strong in the gym. This is only true if, and only if, you are eating properly and getting the nutrients you need in order to properly recover and allow muscle protein synthesis to build and repair the muscle and surrounding tissues so that you get stronger. The quality of our food has taken a dramatic negative change since the 1940’s when our food sources began to be produced in mass on large commercial farms. These large commercial farming businesses met the needs of the masses who no longer lived on farms themselves but because of the use of commercial fertilizers etc., it led to the depletion of many important nutrients that are needed in order to maintain good health. The human body needs approximately 70 vitamins and minerals on a daily basis in order for the body to stay healthy and for damaged muscle tissue to properly rebuild and most importantly, so that you stay healthy and not get sick or develop disease.

“Athletes today ingest only 11% of the organic nutrients from their food sources that athletes of the 1940s enjoyed.”

What I’m saying is that if you’re noticing that your gains and progress in the gym have plateaued there is a good chance that you should seriously consider a good source of whey protein and other vitamins and minerals that will contribute to your recovery and your body’s ability to rebuild itself.

In life there is hardly anything that is ever perfect. We all face obstacles and setbacks that have the potential to derail us if we allow negative thinking to set the tone and direction. Over the past week or so I’ve been a bit sick and have missed 9 days of working out in my gym. I wasn’t happy about missing my time in the gym but I was determined not to allow a negative mindset to drag me down and discourage me altogether. Sickness, family problems, relationships, financial and a host of other problems can be very discouraging to say the least but if you look at these challenges as a way to become stronger, much like the challenges you face in the gym, then you will see gains and progress as you continue to fight and move forward.
