Director (Part-Time) of the Gem of the Hills Community Center
Overview
Gem of the Hills in Blanco, Texas (“the Gem”) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that connects and enriches the community through nature, culture, and wellness. The Gem includes an activity center, a gym, a Wildscape Zone, nature trails, and outdoor pavilion. The Gem regularly offers fitness and wellness classes and other programming and special events. The activity center, outdoor pavilion and grounds serve as a place where locals can gather to play cards, socialize, learn, celebrate, and more. The Gem is governed by a Board of Directors and is funded by membership dues, gym memberships, annual fundraising events, grants, and other donations. Position Summary
The Gem seeks a highly motivated, accomplished, and collaborative leader to serve alongside the part-time Office Manager, and contract Accounting Clerk. The Director’s primary responsibilities include managing the Gem’s operating budget and financial accounting, growing the grant-based fundraising efforts, donor engagement and promotion, coordinating events and programming, and developing a robust volunteer network. This position requires on-site office hours and may include occasional nights or weekends.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Non-Profit Management, or equivalent.
• Three or more years of management or supervisory experience.
• Experience with fund raising, including grant writing.
• Experience in event promotion and planning.
• Successful completion of all appropriate background check(s) as deemed required.
Reports to: Gem of the Hills Board of Directors (BOD).
Essential Functions:
Financial Operations
• Develop, implement and monitor annual operation plan.
• Set projections and report financial status to the BOD.
Grants & Fundraising
• Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes grants, major donors, individual giving, and corporate sponsorships.
• Schedule and coordinate fundraising events.
Programs
• Build the volunteer base to coordinate activities, programs, and services based on community needs and interests in keeping with the overall organization’s mission.
• Evaluate programs and events for their quality and effectiveness.
Marketing & Community Relations
• Work with the BOD, Advisors, and/or other community members to plan and implement community outreach efforts to promote the Gem as a meaningful resource for the community.
Personnel & Volunteers
• Maintains human resource records keeping all contract personnel and volunteer information confidential and secure.
• Prepares and submits all governmental paperwork for contract personnel.
• Recruits and trains a network of volunteers.
Administration
• Works with the Office Manager in preparing reports, statistics, and other required information for BOD meetings.
• Attends BOD meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Strong computer and technical skills, including word-processing, spreadsheet, and social media.
• Excellent organizational skills.
