The North Star Swim Team is committed to providing a program that supports all athletes in achieving their goals, creates opportunities for the development of leadership and life skills, and instills a life long love of the sport of swimming. We are a team focused on inclusivity, skill improvement, hard work, and having fun! We believe in the importance of strong technique, in developing the skill

s of swimmers of all levels, and that every swimmer on our team is valued. Our swimmers work hard, and we provide regular team building opportunities away from the pool that let them play hard.

Our final recap of the 2025-26 season? Our first annual NSST team BBQ! Last month our athletes and families gathered at Golden Lake Park for a fun evening of swimming, games, socializing and food, a new team tradition we plan on continuing. Special thanks to all those who showed up, contributed to the potluck, and an extra special shout out to our parent liaison, Kris, for continuing to be the best event planner around!

The second of our championship-level meet recaps involves one athlete, one coach, 1100 miles, & an inspiring trajectory. This past season was a season of firsts in many ways for NSST - certainly as successful as we’ve ever had in our short existence. A 1st place Senior State team, our 1st 8&U boy at State, 1st Futures Finalist, and 1st National Championship Qualifier!

About that Nationals qualifier: Delaney Nilius joined our team a little over a year & a half ago, having had only high school swimming experience. We knew she had potential & after a season with NSST, Delaney returned to HS season ready to swim fast. Swim fast, she did – at the MSHSL Girls State meet, Delaney’s 100BR broke her school’s record for the 2nd time that season and earned her a 3rd place medal. She returned to club season as our first HS state medalist and first national team member, but the first & fast swims didn’t stop there.

At the LCM Senior State meet, Delaney won the 50BR & 100 BR, beating collegiate swimmers from the U of M. Coach Pat said “she asked who the top seed was and then… just decided to beat her. While I knew we were unleashing her at State, I didn’t expect her to go right past all the time standards she was shooting for and qualify for the National Championship.”

Delaney wasn’t done after LCM State though, she had the Futures Meet in Austin, TX the next week. The Futures meet was held at the U of TX, one of the fastest pools in the world, with a record board full of Olympic medalists & World Record holders. According to Pat, “the goal at the meet was to make finals. We decided to attend the meet in TX because we wanted to go fast & make the top 8. Being a Futures finalist is a big deal when schools are recruiting you. She made finals & got 14th in the 100BR, then made the A final & got 6th in the 50BR! This is a great result the first time out!”

Delaney’s story isn’t over – she’s headed to the TYR Pro Series meet this spring, and the Toyota National Championships in June!

11-14 State:
✨ 7 athletes

10&U State:
✨ 1 athlete (go, Hunter!)
✨100% best times
✨1 CH time

After two first place finishes at LCM Senior State, a TYR Pro Series cut and a National Championships cut, Delaney Nilius is headed to Texas this week to make her mark at the TYR Futures Championships! Delaney's resilience, determination, and talent have been incredible to witness - we're all cheering her on and wishing her best of luck! We couldn't be prouder of you, Laney!
