National Rugby Center

National Rugby Center It will deliver a minimum of $6 million in economic impact to Minnesota annually, attracting 60,000 visitors to Minnesota, and self fund itself operationally.

The National Rugby Center will be a landmark multi-use athletic facility featuring an exceptional outdoor venue and the world's first adaptive athletic facility built from the ground up with the needs of adaptive athletes, caregivers and fans in mind. This will position Minnesota as the home of the world's largest and most inclusive amateur athletic facility. The work and funding to develop the Na

tional Rugby Center is represented in Senate Bill SF 550 and House Bill HF 587. The National Rugby Center will feature the following –

o Three maximum-size rugby pitches including one artificial turf meeting IRB standards, lighting, replay ability scoreboard and all other required infrastructure for international play
o Integrated complex meeting the needs of adaptive and non-adaptive athletes and fans
o The first Adaptive Athletic Facility in the world designed from the ground up prioritizing the needs of adaptive athletes, caregivers, and fans

We are Rugby Unified, a group of veteran Minnesota ruggers who think inclusivity is super cool and it’s time Minnesota has the best of what we’ve seen of rugby facilities across the USA and the World.

Thanks to all who have contacted their legislators on behalf of SF 550 (see handout) and HF 587 (same bill for the House). In the home stretch hoping for our bi-partisan supported request to get funding before the legislature adjourns (no later than May 22nd).

A lot of great work so far, including great committee testimonies. Here is one presentation featuring USA Wheelchair Head Coach Joe Delagrave and USA Rugby Hall of Fame Barb Fugate. A link to that presentation is here starting at 15:24 Minnesota House of Representatives, it's worth the watch!

Grass roots contact your legislator info coming soon!

We have worked with our legislative champions in the Minnesota House & Senate, the City of Blaine, Anoka County and the National Sports Center over the past 9 months to prepare for our second attempt to get this off the ground. We continue to pursue developing the National Rugby Center to be a globally recognized venue to meet the needs of ALL athletes at ALL levels on the campus of the National Sports Center, the world’s largest amateur athletic facility. The National Rugby Center will be a landmark multi-use athletic facility featuring an exceptional outdoor venue and the world's first adaptive athletic facility built from the ground up with the needs of adaptive athletes, caregivers and fans in mind. An integrated complex will support athletes of all abilities, for rugby and a multitude of other complementary sports.
