2026 Spring/Summer Season Complete.
What a weekend. What a season. What a team.
The Pierce Cubs wrapped up our 2026 Spring/Summer season this past weekend at Shipyard Park, and what a way to finish. We entered bracket play as the #2 seed and battled all the way to the championship game before falling on a walk-off hit in the bottom of the 6th inning to the #1 seed. For two hours, our boys stood toe-to-toe with a national-level team and gave them everything they had.
I couldn’t be more proud.
Proud of our players. Proud of our coaches. Proud of our parents. Proud of our fans.
Before the championship game, our team faced a difficult situation earlier in the day. During our pregame devotion, I challenged the boys and families to respond in a Christ-like manner. They did exactly that. As the day went on, people continually approached us with compliments about our team. They spoke highly about how hard our boys played, how respectful they were, how encouraging our coaches were, how loud and supportive our fans were, and how much joy the whole organization brought to the field.
Those are wins that don’t show up in the box score.
We finish the season with an 18-7-2 record, multiple championship appearances, a couple of tournament titles, and plenty of hard-fought battles against some outstanding teams. From a baseball standpoint, this group grew tremendously. They learned how to compete, how to overcome adversity, and how to play the game the right way.
But the greatest growth wasn’t measured in wins and losses.
These boys continue to grow in their understanding of Jesus Christ and what it means to follow Him. That’s what matters most. Baseball is simply the platform. It’s the vehicle God has given us to teach young men about character, respect, perseverance, humility, leadership, and the Gospel. Trophies collect dust. Championships are forgotten. But what Christ does in a young person’s heart has eternal value.
As we look toward the fall, we’ll be turning the page to a new chapter as we join Five Tool Academy. The Cubs name may no longer be across the front of our jerseys, but make no mistake, we’re going to continue to grow and represent the Cubs in the right way. Jesus at the center of everything. The goal remains the same - “keep the main thing the main thing”. The main thing is Jesus!!
Baseball is hard.
Leadership is hard.
Coaching is hard.
Parenting is hard.
But watching these boys grow into young men who compete hard, love each other, and point one another toward Jesus makes every practice, every tournament, every long weekend, and every difficult conversation worth it.
Thank you to every player, parent, coach, grandparent, sponsor, and fan who invested in this team.
What a season.
