These boys showed up at Shipyard ready to compete today! Started the weekend strong, going 2-0 on the day.

Proud of their effort, energy, and teamwork. Time to rest up and get ready to get back after it tomorrow!

This past weekend was about something bigger than baseball. ❤️⚾️

Our Cubs had the opportunity to compete in a fundraiser tournament for Smile Like Hadleigh Corp (an incredible organization founded by TG Lee & Chari Lee in the fight against drunk driving).

We didn’t start how we wanted (dropping game one) but these boys showed resilience. They bounced back with a tie in game two and finished strong by winning our bracket. Growth, toughness, and response… that’s what we’re after. 💪

The uniforms this weekend were special too - huge shoutout to Kemp sports apparel (Willie Kemp) for putting together our custom jerseys. They turned out incredible. 🔥🔥

More importantly, we spent time talking through the mission verse of the Hadleigh Foundation, Matthew 19:14.

Context is so important when reading and studying God's Word. Here is what we know leading up to verse 14 - In this moment in scripture, Jesus is traveling through Judea towards Jerusalem. He is making His way to the cross at this point. We pick up in this chapter with parents bringing their children to Jesus. The disciples, thinking Jesus is far too busy and important to stop and deal with children, try to turn these parents / children away — but Jesus stops them. He welcomes the children and uses this moment to teach something deeper:

The Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who come with a childlike heart.

➡️ Humility
➡️ Dependence
➡️ Trust
➡️ No pride or self-sufficiency

That’s the reminder for all of us — we don’t earn salvation. It’s a free gift from God. We come to Jesus not with performance or cleaning ourselves up, but with dependence upon Him alone.

Following Jesus is a death to self, EVERY DAY. His invitation in the gospels it to repent & believe. We must deny ourselves, pick up our cross, and follow Him.

As a coach and a dad, I could not be more proud of this group. Not just for how they compete, but for how they’re growing as young men.

Pierce Cubs 10U ~ Mid-Season Update | Spring 2026
We’re about halfway through the spring season, and this group continues to show what it means to compete, grow, and do things the right way.

Record: 14-4-1
176 Runs Scored | +75 Run Differential

This spring, the Cubs have:
• Earned 3 Gold Bracket Championship berths
• Also won 2 Silver Brackets

But make no mistake, we’re not chasing rings… we’re chasing competition and growth.

As we look back and reflect on this spring, what stands out most about this team is how they execute what we work on at practice:
• Throwing runners out stealing bases
• Picking off baserunners
• Executing 1st & 3rd situations
• Turning routine (and not so routine) double plays
• Pitchers getting off the mound and covering 1st to secure outs
• Executing successful rundowns scenarios

From the outside looking in, these noted strengths may sound simple. However, at the 10u level these are the aspects within the game of baseball that sets teams apart. These guys are learning the little things of this game that matter - and they’re showing up in big moments.

We’ve got several tournaments ahead in May - June, with our biggest one of the year coming up in early June at Shipyard. We’re fired up for the opportunity to compete against strong competition and continue to test ourselves.

While the on-field growth has been impressive, what excites us most is what’s happening off the field. As we spend time in scripture and talk about what it means to be Godly young men, the growth in character, attitude, and mindset has been even more impactful.

This group continues to impress us more than we could have imagined. Continue to follow our journey!

🏆 TOURNAMENT CHAMPS 🏆

(9) of our Cubs were available and wanted to play ball this weekend. They showed up ready to play… and they made it count.

The boys rolled into Waycross for an SGA tournament and went 4–0 on the day, bringing home the hardware.

Final numbers:

⚾ 39 runs scored

⚾ 16 runs allowed

This team was rolling all day.

🔥 Two different 5+ run innings started with TWO OUTS. No quit in this lineup.

💣 Shiloh launched his FIRST home run! And honestly… we were pretty close to having four bombs in that same inning. Easton, Tyson, and Crew all put great swings on balls.

👀 No backwards K’s all day. The boys were aggressive and attacking at the plate.

🧤 Defense was lights out, including two double plays. Defense wins ball games!

💪 Big time credit to Dawson and Brayden behind the plate. Catching is a tough job and these guys battle for us every weekend while still producing offensively.

🔥 Ridge finished the final 2.2 innings of the 1st bracket game on the mound, then came into the championship game and recorded the first SIX outs by strikeout.

✈️ Ellis made a full sprint catch in center field that completely flipped the momentum. These catches stand out and break the opponent’s back.

📈 Brenton continues to gain confidence at the plate and barreled balls up all day. Keep grinding!

⚾ Every single player reached base multiple times. No easy outs. No weak spots. Just competitive at-bats from top to bottom.

This list could keep going on and on. So much to be excited for!

We are just getting started this season… but this group showed what Pierce Cubs baseball looks like.

Join us at our next practice on Thursday, February 12th as we collect new pajamas (newborn–teen) and loose change to support Called to Care of Pierce/Bacon Counties.

As a coaching staff, we have challenged our players / families to support this great cause, but we also want to open it to the public to further extend the opportunity. If you feel led to give, we would love for you to swing by and drop off pajamas and/or coins as we collect.
