We attended the 100th Virginia FFA State Convention this week! 💙 Lilly won her Animal Science division of the Agriscience Fair and placed 5th in Employment Skills! 💛 We competed in Hippology. 💙 Attended workshops hosted by visiting state officers. 💛 Mackenzie taught us to play Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza to pass our down time. 💙 Shopped at the Western Store. 💛 Boogied at the FFA Dance. 💙 Attended Career Expo. 💛 Heard Governor Spanberger’s keynote address. 💙 Visited the FFA Historical Room on campus and learned about the history of the FFV (Future Farmers of Virginia) and FFA. 💙💛💙 We’re thankful for Virginia FFA and the friendships, opportunities, and personal growth that the organization makes possible.

FREE Vegetable Plants! Come rescue these plants & give them a home… Our student greenhouse workers are gone for the summer and these plants are getting evicted from the EMHS greenhouse! Squash (yellow crookneck and yellow straightneck), cucumbers (slicer), tomatoes (cherry, jelly bean, beefsteak, better boy, container choice, pink brandywine, roma), and a few bell peppers. 🫑 🍅 🥒 Find them at the EMHS Upper Gate to Football Field now through 7:30 PM today. Come on now or grab ‘em when you’re here for Graduation!

We had our End of Year FFA Celebration today! 🧁 Cake, awards, and a reflection of the year’s activities. 💙 Our seniors signed and hung their ceiling tile. ☀️ The nearly 90 degree sun-filled day was perfect for the annual Eaton water slide! 📖 Got yearbooks and spent time signing those. It was a busy day at EMHS!

Final day at “Farm School” for us in the 25-26 school year. Our Agriculture program participated in a Farm Education Partnership with Glade Road Growing in Blacksburg! Today, we visited for the 10th time and our topic was harvesting and post harvest processes. We learned and practiced proper harvesting technique for broccolini, curly kale, dino kale, and collard greens in the greenhouse tunnel. 🥬 In the field, we learned about how strawberries are grown, cared for, and harvested. 🍓 We picked the berries and enjoyed sampling the fruit as we worked! In the farm store, we saw how produce is washed, dried, packaged, and displayed. Today, we saw the full story of how crops get from the field to your table. 👩‍🌾
