2021 has been filled with accomplishments, milestones, disappointments, and everything in between. ⁣

While on paper I had my best year ever, there were a lot of lessons and failed ex*****on I have been feeling guilty about. ⁣

My sole intent in 2022 is to 10x my ex*****on. ⁣

That starts with sharing my 8 biggest lessons and reflections from 2022. ⁣

Some may resonate with you and some may not. ⁣

Hopefully you take the time to think about how your year went and what you'll do differently in 2022. ⁣

Topics include:⁣

- Too Much Time Thinking, Not Enough Doing⁣

- Sacrifices While Necessary Are Still Tough⁣

- Money Only Solves Money Problems⁣

- Vision Without Action is a Recipe for Anxiety⁣

- Mitigating the Downside is More Important⁣

- You Will Lose Friends and You're Supposed To⁣

- Consistent Success Comes Down to 3 Things⁣

- Hard Work is the Goal

Struggling with work/life balance? This will definitely help!⁣

Understand first that balance is a myth if you want to be successful.⁣

Why?⁣

First, say you have a scale with two identical objects on either side that weigh the exact same thing.⁣

What does the scale read?⁣

0.⁣

Who wants 0 success?⁣

Who wants 0 money?⁣

Who wants to be a 0?⁣

You’re measuring with the wrong imaginary tool.⁣

Second, while there doesn’t have to be a gross discrepancy between two things, there will always be a relative imbalance from action to the impact you want to make.⁣

For example, I spent about 25 minutes writing and editing this short post. ⁣

You read it in 30 seconds.⁣

So one please hit the like button if you’ve gotten this far ⁣

Second, for the really big things in our lives like building an empire, raising a family, training for a contest prep, writing a book… ⁣

The big things you’re currently chasing are the balls made out of glass.⁣

And instead of thinking you need to add time or things to your life to balance those big goals out with everything else, consider ELIMINATING a toxic relationship or a bad habit that’s not contributing to your goals and completely eliminate it from your juggling routine.⁣

True “balance” within success is less s**t to focus on and doing the few things with all your ability. ⁣

That’s how you’ll separate yourself.⁣

Let me know if this helped you!

In the totality of life, you’ll make 5-6 key decisions that will determine your fate and the story written about you.⁣

The above is a paraphrased quote (bc I can’t find the actual one) from Alex Hormozi and I’ve been giving it a great deal of thought recently.⁣

Since internalizing this quote, I want to share two specific examples of how it’s applied to my own life and how thinking about this concept deeper will help you.⁣

First, I believe I’ve made 2 of the 5-6 decisions already in my life.⁣

Quitting my job at Meadowbrook in 2016 (for those who don’t know, I spent 3 years on Long Island believing I wanted to be a GM of a private golf club).⁣

Not pursuing a doctorate and starting my own business in 2018.⁣

These two decisions are paramount to why I’m writing this on my big ass island in Jacksonville, pursuing what I love.⁣

Vulnerability time: I recently took a bold and scary action that I believed would be my third key decision in life.⁣

Didn’t receive the answer I desired.⁣

Whether forever or temporary, time will only tell.⁣

The reason I took that action though was because I now have a clear vision for my life and the next key decisions will be made within that context, framework, and will be positive additions to aid in making that vision become a reality.⁣

The first two decisions were made to avoid misery. ⁣

Before having a clear vision, these are necessary. ⁣

Everything has to fall apart for your life to come together sometimes.⁣

Once you have a clear vision set for your life, you’re able to make better decisions to build and design the life you truly want.⁣

It’s alright to start over.⁣

It’s okay to try something new.⁣

It’s encouraged to make a key decision in your life to avoid long term pain and regret.⁣

Without a vision, you won’t know until later if an action was a key decision.⁣

With a vision and spending time reverse engineering your life, the potential key decisions will present themselves to you much more clearly.⁣

It’s then up to you to take action and no, not every action will be one of those key decisions but you will be operating at a higher level in life than before.⁣

If I’ve had 1 conversation about comparison recently, I’ve had 100.⁣

Bodies, wealth, relationships, material s**t, vacations. ⁣

If you read till the end, I’ll teach you how to shift from, “I wish I had that” to “How did they do that and what do I need to do?”⁣

I believe comparison is heightened in the coaching industry simply by the nature of the work and the results produced both income wise and health/aesthetic wise.⁣

I myself have spent far too much time studying and thinking about how other coaches grew their brand and following when the answer was simple…⁣

1) They are authentically and unapologetically themselves.⁣

This is a spectrum of course but being the attractive character that brings education, entertainment, and inspiration to their followers.⁣

2) They do the thing. Everyday. They love the craft and process most of the time and do it even if they don’t feel like it.⁣

Massive problem of mine from a social media/content perspective. Less of a problem in other areas. Working on it.⁣

3) They have a future based cause that people connect with and get behind.⁣

Something I believe I have but I don’t talk nearly enough about and that needs fine tuning.⁣

Those are really the core principles.⁣

Jealousy and envy of others for putting in work you haven’t is the literal definition of asinine in my opinion.⁣

Instead, when jealousy and envy creep in, start to shift into curiosity about their process. Their habits. Their story.⁣

Because we know not one single person was an overnight success. ⁣

Not one. (feel free to let me know who was if you disagree).⁣

Inspire instead of self-destructing when you start to compare. ⁣

That will let you write your own story people will want to read and be inspired by as well.⁣

Please share with someone who needs to hear this if you agree!⁣

09/13/2021

I wanted to be a garbage man when I grew up.⁣

Why?⁣

They only work one day a week (or so I thought). ⁣

Hacking the system already.⁣

Then I wanted to be a professional baseball catcher. ⁣

Oddly enough the traits of a baseball catcher are to keep the pitcher in line and provide direction to them while having an awareness over the entire field.⁣

Much like a coach does.⁣

Then in 5th grade, we all took a career plan assessment.⁣

Highest was Design. Second was Health. Third was Business Professional.⁣

I can’t make that up. ⁣

All 3 are a vital part of what I do now.⁣

The internet was barely a thing and social media was far from starting (Myspace for reference was created in 2003) so we couldn’t conceive what is possible today.⁣

I thought about every white collar medical field career because that’s what I was supposed to do.⁣

All that time exploring options was necessary. ⁣

Finally deciding on a sport management major and moving out to Long Island after college, I found that hospitality wasn’t for me either.⁣

Then the story of my life gets a lot more interesting.⁣

Figuring out what you don’t want to do is equally as valuable as what you do want. ⁣

Finding out who you don’t want to be or how you don’t want to act is equally as valuable too.⁣

Steve reminded us all the importance of looking back at our accomplishments and journey in life.⁣

My hope for you is when you get down, you take a few moments to look back and be proud of all the up’s and down’s of your life. ⁣

That’s your story to tell and people want to hear it.⁣

Type A’s, you’re probably too hard on yourself most of the time and here’s why…⁣

I took an extended trip to Austin, Texas two weekends ago and arrived a day early and stayed a few days later.⁣

This was the first time since starting my company in 2018 that I didn’t take my iMac with me like when I would visit home (iMac’s don’t travel well in the overhead storage bin) or stayed longer than a few days and got ahead on work.⁣

That left me with a laptop and fingers crossed that my systems would work on the road like they did in the controlled setting of home.⁣

The last thing I wanted to happen was letting down a client because I took some time for myself. Again, first in 3+ years.⁣

I only had one promo snag and it wasn’t technically released till Thursday.⁣

My 1-1 clients understood I was traveling and were completely fine with me getting back to them later in the week.⁣

Nothing went wrong but I still worried most of the time. I felt like I wasn’t “all in” or whatever grind all the time phrase you want to use and that made me less valuable than before.⁣

The systems and processes I’ve worked tirelessly to setup within my work and life held up on the road as I enjoyed myself and, in the process, I learned to enjoy my own company in a new place.⁣

There’s two lessons here: Preparation and systemization will make deviations and conscious changes in your life easier. It won’t always be 100% but “perfection” in this case is a moving target.⁣

Second, worrying pre-trip led to action making sure I had every promo template saved to the cloud and every Garageband or Audition (podcast editing software) template saved for each show on my laptop while traveling. The rest of the worrying during the trip was counterproductive and took away from my enjoyment of the experience of a new place. ⁣

Takeaway: Plan and prepare beforehand.⁣

Enjoy and roll with the imperfection during.⁣

Evaluate and make plans to improve for next time after.

If I look genuinely happy in these photos, there’s a few reasons…⁣

One, and both said I looked jacked on Friday which by itself would have been a 3 day ego boost.⁣

Second, I finally feel like I “caught up” to where I am “supposed” to be. ⁣

Restarting your career and life isn’t easy at 25. ⁣

Immediately failing, not getting into any grad schools that first year of reset and to be back living with your parents…. it's defeating.⁣

I can’t tell you the hours it took to get to this point of learning, executing, and being consistent with my craft. ⁣

That feeling of playing “catch up” served me professionally but emotionally it was very hard to deal with at times.⁣

I feel like now I’m in a prime position for growth in many areas.⁣

I couldn’t have done it alone.⁣

Speaking of alone, third is the pride I feel in myself traveling alone. ⁣

I told this privately but I’m not someone who travels well by themselves.⁣

I like my routine at home and the feeling of control that gives me. ⁣

That’s the comfort zone though. ⁣

While we need the control and security at times, we also need the time to be uncomfortable and grow and that's exactly what I did this weekend.⁣

, thank you for inviting me and thank you to your entire team at NLCA.⁣

and , thank you for all that you do in my life that you know of and don’t. You’re both role models AF to me and everyone who attended and beyond. ⁣

Thank you to the new friends I made that made this weekend easier to be myself in a new place and thank you to all the speakers (, and others) for your knowledge and contribution to this weekend.

Are you avoiding growing or taking the next step in your life because you don't want what comes with it⁣

Change brings new challenges, obstacles, frustrations, packing/moving… (moving is a bitch by the way). ⁣

We are biologically designed to crave change and improvements in our lives but that doesn't negate the fear that comes along with it. ⁣

I want to share how you can not only prepare for the enviable change that will occur but thrive and allow change to happen on your terms. ⁣

Detail and quality enhances any story and your life is no exception…⁣⁣What’s your favorite song? I want you to take time...

Detail and quality enhances any story and your life is no exception…⁣

What’s your favorite song? I want you to take time to listen to it today.⁣

When you press play, how excited are you? You know the rhythm, beat, every word, pitch changes.⁣

Mine is “Watch the Wind Blow By” by Tim McGraw. ⁣

The first few seconds are intoxicating and with just that part, anticipation and excitement builds.⁣

The details in the song are simple but add eloquently to the scene and message of the song. They put you right in the song.⁣

“All I wanna do is let it be and be with you and watch the wind blow by”⁣

“All I wanna see is you and me go on forever like the clear blue sky”⁣

There’s something simply divine about the presentness and, if you’ve been lucky enough to fall in love with someone to this magnitude, you know the presence of that other person is all you need and more in that moment and for the rest of your life. ⁣

The world can simply rotate without the fear and worry we carry around with ourselves the rest of the time.⁣

That’s the difference between a relationship that’s a big hell yes and one you’re just content with. You’ll go full range of motion for it.⁣

In every area of life we have a choice of how much effort and intensity we give. Sometimes, especially if we are first starting out, we only have energy for a few and must act accordingly and suffer the consequences at that time. Yes, this is the part where I acknowledge half reps have their place and time.⁣

But we build, gain experience, find out what are hell yes’s for us and what light us up and what simply doesn’t. The more hell yes’s we have in life, the more energy that naturally will generate to give that full range of motion to those areas. ⁣

Are you putting full ROM into each day and if not, where do you need to start improving?
