Blackfoot Football

Dear Broncos;

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Football season is upon us. The last three months our team has grown and bonded. We are so pleased with the gains our team made in strength and speed this summer. Our scrimmages showed our teams are ready to compete. I hope you all enjoy the down time this week. Next week it’s time to grab our lunch pails and put on our hard hats.

On Monday, August 7 all athletes grades 9-12 will align for roll call on the Varsity Football Field at 2:00 pm. Roll call will begin promptly at 2:00 pm. I would suggest that students show up at 1:45. Athletes who are late to roll call at any time during the season will result in the entire team receiving “reminders” to check on their brothers and help them manage their time.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night all teams will practice from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. These practices will include three stations, a strength station, a conditioning station and a special teams station. We will rotate through stations in three groups, Freshman, J.V. and a Varsity group. At four o'clock we will break for a nutritious snack.

Monday and Friday evenings we will all practice from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. Our coaches will have concussion and CPR training following Monday evenings practice. Friday night at the end of practice we will travel to the Ross Park Aquatic Center for a team barbecue and swim.

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we will practice twice a day and take the recommended
two hours of active rest and recovery between sessions. That down time will be used for team snack, goal setting, film and special speakers. Freshman will be released at 6:30 pm.

The J.V. and Varsity teams will practice from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Beginning on Tuesday, August 8th the freshmen will begin their morning schedule. They will be practicing each morning between 7:00 - 9:00 am. Please make sure athletes are dropped off at the high school at 6:45 am ready to practice. Again, athletes late for roll call will have special reminders.

Beginning week two we will start our regular practice schedule. Freshman 7:00 - 9:00 am, J.V. and Varsity from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Check in for JV and Varsity will be 4:15 to their Commitment to Excellence Coach.

We are excited to have a team family bonding night. On Friday, August 11, 2023 at the Ross Park Aquatic Center in Pocatello. All family members are welcome to attend, the cost of attendance will be $1.50 per person. The pool is reserved exclusively for us courtesy of the Blackfoot Football Foundation.

Team costs are listed below. All fees will be added to your students athletes school account. Payments can be made to Niki Johnson in the school accounting office (the Hole in the Wall). Fees for each athlete need to be paid during that season. All football fees should be paid by Thanksgiving Break.

Athletes that have worked in NFL Flag or at the BFF Fireworks stand will have fees moved into their account this August. Please have your athletes claim his NFL Flag Hours by filling out this form NFL Flag Hours Claim Form. Student athletes who coached or would like to claim their hours as community service hours should use the same form to claim those hours.

All programs will be practicing on Labor Day, September 4, 2023 from 8:00-10:00 am. This is a mandatory practice. Just a quick reminder on practice policies. All unexcused absences will result in missing that week's game. Excused absences will result in missing a quarter of the upcoming game. Varsity and JV athletes will have Saturday film/lift sessions after games. Freshman will have Friday film/lift sessions after games. Those times will be determined at a later date.

We hope that all parents can assist with the football program. We ask that you use your time, talent or provide a financial contribution for our team's meals and events such as the parade. Below are a list of team moms and some of the ways you could assist the program this fall.
I appreciate you sharing your child with our football program this fall.

Please keep open lines of communication up especially when you find yourself frustrated. Each of us contributes to the culture of the football program. Let's do our best to stay positive and support one another.

Bronco Pride!
