Have you ever been in a situation where you haven't had the money to pay a bill or a debt that you owe? Pretty scary right? Does the entire situation make you want to hide and avoid contacting the company or person who you owe money? Here's the advice of a financial coach: Communicate. Call that credit card company, call your landlord, call your mortgage broker. Let them know you've fallen on difficult times and ask if they can extend a payment, ask if they'd be willing to work with you in some way. Keep in mind by avoiding the situation the company or person who you owe the money has NO idea what is going on. To them it seems you just haven't paid your bills.. HOWEVER if you communicate or even better OVER COMMUNICATE it can help the situation immensely, plus you will have peace of mind and potentially find resolutions you didn't know were possible. Also remember the first things you pay are housing, food, utilities and gas... Your necessities. Keep a roof over your head, food in your bellies, and utilities on.
