What a weekend.

Camp of Champs was a huge success and I couldn’t be more grateful for Maolu Woiwor and Destin McCauley for coming out and pouring into our kids. The technique was great, but what stood out even more was the wisdom, energy, and the way they connected with the kids on and off the mat.

That’s what makes camps like this special. It’s not just learning a few new positions. It’s being around people who love the sport, who care about the kids, and who challenge them to think, compete, and carry themselves better.

Huge thank you to all the parents for bringing your kids out and trusting us with them. The kids worked their butts off all weekend, and I truly believe every single one of them walked out better than they came in.

This is what we want to keep building in North Dakota. Great wrestling, great people, hard work, and experiences these kids won’t forget.

Next up: Johnni DiJulius Camp. If you know Johnni, you know the energy will be unreal. He is one of the best I’ve been around at getting kids fired up, helping them love the sport, and teaching them how to compete with passion.

Spots are limited, so get signed up.

🚨 RAF WEEKEND IN WISCONSIN 🚨

This July, Coach Seth Gross and crew are coming to town for a high-level summer camp before the huge RAF weekend in Milwaukee.

Front head is one of the most common positions wrestlers get stuck in from youth all the way through high school. Coach Seth will be covering a variety of ways to finish from the front head, clear the position when you get stuck underneath, and find scores from situations that normally shut wrestlers down. He’ll also be sharing little tricks, reactions, and details that still work for him today at the highest levels of wrestling.

This is a perfect opportunity to sharpen up before the RAF event in Milwaukee that evening and the RAF NextGen youth tournament the following day.

We’re fired up to host Seth and some special guests for a great day of wrestling. Spots are LIMITED - get signed up now 👇

Camp of Champs is filling up fast.

We are down to about 12 spots left, and once those spots are filled, registration will close.

This camp is May 30–31 at Matpac Wrestling and will feature:

Destin McCauley
5x MN State Champion
D2 National Champion
MN all-time wins leader

Maolu Woiwor
3x MN State Champion
Owner of Maverick Training Center

Seth Gross

World Team Member
3x MN State Champion

These three combined for 11 Minnesota State Titles and were teammates at Apple Valley when Apple Valley was ranked #1 in the country.

This is a great chance to get high-level offseason training, sharpen positions, and learn from guys who have competed and coached at a very high level.

Once the last spots are gone, we are closing registration.

This year has been a weird one.

When it comes to my health and competing, it’s been up and down. It has tested me in ways I didn’t expect. But at the same time, it has also been one of the most fruitful years of my life.

I’ve gotten to pour into young wrestlers.
I’ve gotten to watch my son grow.
And soon, we’ll be bringing a baby girl into the world.

So even though this season has been frustrating, it hasn’t been wasted.

This will be only the second time since 2017 that I won’t be competing at the World Team Trials. I sustained an injury at the Open and will be off the mat for the next 1–2 months.

For almost a decade, I’ve been chasing the opportunity to represent our country. I’ve had years where I can honestly say I didn’t do everything I needed to do. I’ve had years where I gave everything I had and still came up short.

But this year has probably been the hardest one to process.

Not because I wasn’t motivated. I was.
Not because I didn’t want it. I did.

I just couldn’t get momentum rolling. Every time I felt like I was starting to build, something set me back. Most of it was injury-related. And honestly, I think some of the little nagging things I ignored or pushed through for years finally caught up with me.

That’s hard to admit, but it’s the truth.

But I also believe God doesn’t waste anything.

This year has taught me patience. It has taught me to stop trying to control what isn’t mine to control. It has reminded me that my identity can’t be built only on whether I’m winning, competing, or standing on top of a podium.

Wrestling is a huge part of my life, but it’s not my god.

I still believe I have more in me. I still believe the best is ahead. But right now, my job is simple: get healthy, be present for my family, be there for my wife as we bring our baby girl into this world, keep pouring into the kids I coach, and trust that God is still working even when things don’t look the way I planned.

I know a lot of people are dealing with their own version of this. Injuries. Setbacks. Disappointment. Feeling like you were close and then life just punched you in the mouth.

I get it.

But I also believe this: a setback doesn’t mean God is done with you. Sometimes it’s just part of the work He’s doing in you.

I’m bummed. I’m frustrated. But I’m also thankful.

I’ll heal up. I’ll keep showing up. I’ll keep trusting God’s plan.

The best is yet to come.
