Consistency...
This picture is just a small glimpse of my journey (2018- present). My journey actually started in 2011. When you hear that, you think consistency! Little do you know, that very little of my fitness journey has been consistent.
My workouts have not been consistent:
I have done it all! I have done weight lifting, running, CrossFit, Pilates, yoga, HIIT, dancing, cycling... you name it. I have worked out at different times, days frequencies, and durations. I have used heavy weights, light weights and even no weights. I have even been both a student and instructor.
My body (physique) has not been consistent:
I have gained weight, lost weight, gained muscle, lost muscle, fit into a very wide range of sizes, and my scale has seen many different numbers.
My abilities have not been consistent:
I have set PRs in the past that I could not even imagine doing now, and have PRs now that I never could have achieved in the past. I have had injuries and illnesses that have changed what I am capable of achieving. I have aged and had children, which have effected how my body responds to movement.
The one thing that remains consistent is my mindset and focus. The moment I started exercising for my mental and emotional health was the day that MOVEMENT was a constant in my life. This resulted in consistent growth.
I consistently felt more joy and less stress.
I consistently grew closer in my relationship with God.
I consistently recognized my worth outside of my physical image.
I was consistently more grateful.
I consistently found ways to deal with stress and anxiety.
I consistently found ways to make exercise easier and more enjoyable (nutrition, stretching etc.)
I consistently met people that encouraged me to grow.
So yes, consistently is very important.
Be Consistent with movement even if the style changes.
Be Consistent with your WHY. The root reason for your journey
Be consistent with your focus and mindset.
Be consistent with growing!
Google made this collage for me and I feel like people think that I just LOVE to workout and that exercise is easy for me. The reality is, that I dread about 80% of my workouts. I do them because I never want
