It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Ray Sandness, who was not only a cornerstone to our family but to Capital City Sporting Clays.
Ray was so much more than a father. He was a builder, teacher, and steady hand behind Capital City Sporting Clays, which has now grown far beyond what any of us could have imagined.
We would have never been able to create and build this space for generations to share, grow and learn in their passions for shooting, hunting and comradery. A passion that he shared with Mark at a young age that grew into not only a career but family business. Which grew into something much bigger—a community of people brought together by the outdoors, the sport, and friendships that come with it.
Ray's contributions helped give that passion a place to grow, and his influence will remain a part of it for years to come. His hands helped build it. His heart helped sustain it. And his legacy will live on through the family, friends, and community who continue to carry that passion forward.
We are grateful for everything he gave—not only to our family, but to something that has become part of the lives of so many others. Because of Ray, what we built together will not end with us. We hope it continues to grow, bring people together, and be passed down through generations to come.
His work may be finished, but the legacy he helped build will continue.
