Walleye were going nuts for the Salmo Hornet crankbaits today. What a delightfully zany signature, fast-twitch, rod-vibrating hyper-action crankbait. Purple was my go to color, while my partner scored on the perch tiger color.

The summer walleye bite is definitely on at our prairie lakes! The fish are aggressive, hungry, and healthy! You can catch them on pretty much whatever your desire.

We observed an improvement in the walleye bite during this Memorial Day morning on a ND prairie pothole lake. The water temperature ranged from 58 to 64 degrees, depending on our location within the lake. The bug hatch was overly prevalent throughout the area and annoying! Most of our fish were caught at depths of 6-8 feet off of w**d lines or in w**ds using crankbaits or crawlers on a PK Lures Reeff Rig slow death roll hook. Pike outnumbered walleyes caught being about 2 to 1 yet. We’re expecting fishing on the lakes to improve significantly this week with the upcoming warm weather.
