The NFL
A former NFL team member told me the meaning of “NFL.” Among players, NFL means “Not For Long.”
Here you have a collection of the biggest, strongest, fastest, most skilled, talented, elite athletes in all of football, and they are all keenly aware of job insecurity.
These guys are expected to collide with maximum speed and force against opponents averaging 245 pounds, and with offensive guards and tackles weighing 315 pounds, all wanting to hurt them, knowing that a career-ending injury is highly possible at any moment.
Football is one of the most dangerous sports in the world. Up to 68% of NFL players may get injured during a season. The average career length of an NFL player is only 3.3 years.
If the greatest athletes in the world have such high job insecurity, what about us? Why should we complain about losing a job or being out of work? We are in good company.
Ultimately, our lives, health, performance, and jobs are all totally in God’s hands. He is the only stable, secure, and dependable Being in the universe. Therefore, for our lives to be stable, we must entrust them totally to Him, the only unchanging Rock of our salvation.
You can have peace and confidence in the future only if your life is built upon this solid Rock of our God Jesus Christ. Pray right now to totally give your life to Him, asking Him to come into your life forever:
Lord Jesus, I need You. I open the door of my heart and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Take control of my life. Forgive my sins; I turn away from them now. Make me the kind of person you want me to be. As an expression of my faith, I now thank You for hearing my prayer and coming into my life. I pray this in Jesus' Name. Amen.
If you prayed this way, tell someone what you have done, and be baptized by a Bible believing church. This will solidify your commitment to Jesus, and you will be taking the first important steps in your journey to Christian maturity.
"Jesus, remember me when You come into Your Kingdom."
