tl/dr: Handcrafted presentation bat in memory of player's mother, who passed away last year.

I was contacted by an old high school friend about making this bat as a gift for his nephew. My friend told me she passed away last year, and she always loved watching her son play. I suggested we model his nephew's bat after the Mother's Day bats used in the MLB, and I sent him some examples. He liked the pink barrel and natural handle, and he sent me the info and quote to add. The purple ribbon is for Lupus awareness.

I am honored to have been part of this project.

Big thanks to Wayne Hollingsworth for trusting goat/monkey for a game bat and a BP bat for his son. Hope he loves them!

Max wanted an all-natural finish for his bats, so all I did was apply a clear coat, and it turned out beautifully! Added a little customization and his number, and there you have it. The engraving was dark brown, so I didn't ink it, and this bat looks as natural as you can get.

For his BP bat, I just used the goat/monkey logos and clear coat.

Hey guys, it's Scott Harrison. I started Goat Monkey Bats because I love baseball, I enjoy woodworking, and I love the idea of giving players of all ages and skills an opportunity to have a bat custom made for them, the same way MLB players do. My goal isn't to make 1000's of bats each year. It's not to make standard bat models with custom finishes. My goal is to partner with players to determine what they love and hate about the bats they've used, then to handcraft a bat that is exactly what they want it to be. Some people called this kid "Matty Baseball", and some called him "Dirt" (he's never been afraid to get dirty for a ground ball). I called him "Hollywood" for a while, so I personalized his bat with an image of the Hollywood sign. So proud to be allowed to craft this custom bat for one HECK of a ballplayer, and an even better kid. Thanks, guys!

Alex's bat... Another from when I wanted to name the company Double-A bats. Kinda cool that my two boys have the only AA bats I made, since it was going to be named after them.
