Hello Camp Fans!

As we adjust back to the "real world", we reminisce about the amazing week we had at the Charles Campbell Children's Camp. We look through the pictures and smile at the memories made.

For sixty five years Camp! has been an integral part of the summer for countless souls, bringing joy, happiness, and a relief from reality offering an escape for all who join in the festivities.

Charles Campbell, the Billings Lions Club member who convinced the club to continue the Camps support and dedication, kept a scrapbook of thank you notes and letters from then Director Inez Jamison. Each letter and note, written in the 1960-70s expressed the same love and feelings of inclusiveness that Camp brings to all even decades later.

In one letter- parents of a camper wrote " Camp meant pranks, creek rolls, and friends" and "has given her an activity what she can talk about to her siblings and where she feels totally accepted and equal. Next to her family (I hope), camp is the most important thing in her life."

This year, like so many prior years, we open Camp up with an evening dance- to show off our crazy dance moves, break the ice, and for everyone to break out of their shell and loosen up and see that Camp is something different, something more than a week in the mountains. Camp is a break from the stressors of the "real world", where everyone forgets about life for a moment and is just enveloped by the love of all who get the immense privilege of being at Camp.

We ended Family Night with a different dance- after the bonding of strangers who have become life long friends, counselors and campers who now have their own Camp stories to tell their friends, family, and anyone that will listen, and all the memories of the longest shortest week of the year.

For the finale, counselors and campers danced and sang to "This Is Me" by Keala Settle from the movie "The Greatest Showman". It was explained this song encompasses the feelings of Camp- one in which the real world isn't always kind, but Camp is an amazing place of silliness, goofiness, and without judgment.

"Day is done - Gone the sun - From the hills - From the lake - From the skies - All is well - Safely rest - God is nigh - Go to sleep"...

Every evening for the past week we have lowered Old Glory and the Lions flags to the singing of Taps. As night falls upon the Camp, a quiet stillness takes over- with the laughs and exuberant excitement being replaced with a quiet slumber with the rushing waters of Lake Fork creating a soundtrack of the babbling stream lulling all those at camp asleep.

Camp is now empty- except for the memory of the amazing stories and adventures created during the week. The sun has set on another week of Camp, and we cannot wait until we head back to that magical place in the Beartooths- where we can become whole again with our Camp Family!

Good bright beautiful morning Camp Fans!

We are awake and ready for an exciting day at Camp.

Tonight is Family Night! Please be at camp starting 6 pm. We realize you miss your kiddos immensely, but please don't show up earlier as we will still be eating and getting ready for tonight's festivities.

We can't wait to see everyone soon, to show off our crafts, see pictures, watch amazing skits, and devour delicious treats!

Good evening Camp Fans!

We have had a busy couple of days so haven't had a chance to post much.

We did crafts, played in the splash park, did archery and ax throwing, went on a hike, and pranked some cabins!

We had an amazing talent show with Counselors and Campers performing into the night. We also celebrated three birthdays that occur during Camp!

Today we added riding horses to the events, but unfortunately mother nature cooled us off with a rain shower and ended the events early.

We had our theme night, celebrating America's 250th Birthday and finishing out the evening with a movie.

Cabins are prepared for tomorrow's Family Night, with skits and delicious treats awaiting our guests.

We can't wait to see everyone at 6pm tomorrow, July 16th at 6pm!

Good morning Camp Fans!

We have another busy day of activities planned with beautiful weather in the forecast. Yesterday we made amazing crafts, cooled ourselves in the splash park, perfected our aim at archery and axe throwing, and explored the beauty of the Beartooths on a hike.

We ended our evening with a fun filled outdoor game night with everyone having an amazing time.

This morning someone pranked our mess hall! We are looking for the culprits but so far no one is confessing ha, but the note left said it was Sue ha!

Good bright beautiful cooler morning Camp Fans!

We have had a busy day and night! Counselors decorated, finished orientation, and made amazing memories as they form life long friendships. Campers arrived, met their counselors and got settled into their cabins, before we had a delicious meal.

Then....we danced! Our "ice breaker" dance helps everyone loosen up, be wild, goofy, crazy and just get ready for an amazing week in the Beartooths. The kiddos have some impressive dance moves!

Today we have a full schedule of activities- archery and ax throwing (kid appropriate of course), crafts, splash park, hiking, and pranking!

We are limited in service, so we don't reply to messages.
