It’s that time of year again! We are just over two months away from the third edition of Haunts & Hallows Half Marathon, happening at First Landing State Park on Sunday, October 25th @ 1 PM!!

To kick off the build up, we’ll be doing giveaways at some run clubs this week. Here’s where you’ll have a chance to win a free entry this week:

To wrap up our podium posts, here is our Terrapin Mountain Half Marathon men’s podium:

1. Nathan Moore - 1:35:18 - NEW COURSE RECORD
2. Wyatt Zealand - 1:47:57
3. Matthew Clements - 1:52:10

Coming off the win at the 50k last month, Nathan sets a new men’s course record on the Terrapin Mountain Half Marathon course, beating both the official and unofficial course records held by Clark Zealand and William Zealand.

This was Wyatt Zealand’s third time running the Half Marathon, getting faster each time, and landing him in second place this year.

And to round out the podium is Matthew Clements, two time Terrapin Mountain Half Marathon finisher with two podiums.

Here is last weekend’s women’s Terrapin Mountain Half Marathon podium:

1. Piper Zealand - 2:10:07
2. Jessie Zealand - 2:17:59
3. Jamie Swyers - 2:16:19

Third time running, third time on the podium, and first win for Piper Zealand; who continues to get faster each year.

This was Jessie Zealand’s fifth time running the Terrapin Mountain Half Marathon and her fourth time on the podium, taking second place this year. Let’s see what she can do at the ultra distance, as she toes the line next month at Promise Land 50k++.

Rounding out the podium, was Jamie Swyers, RD for . This is the second time running the Terrapin Half, but hadn’t run it since 2015, when she took the win. She’s still got that podium touch!

And here is the 2026 Terrapin Mountain Men’s 50k podium:

1. Jesse Irwin - 4:27:38
2. John Smith - 4:51:37
3. John Andersen - 4:57:28

Third time running the 50k for second time on the podium, and first win with his best time yet.

has been hunting a Terrapin podium for the past three years, landing a 5th place Half Marathon finish in 2024 and a 9th place finish in the 50k last year. Bettering his time from last year by nearly a half an hour lands him in second place this year.

John Andersen is a name many of us know, (aka .rhoades ). If he’s on the start line, he’s in the conversation. Super nice guy demeanor, but a fierce competitor when the race clock is rolling. John pulls off a third place performance this year, setting a Grand Masters course record, proving that age is just a number.

While we celebrate every finish, here are a few that burned it down this past weekend at Terrapin Mountain. Introducing our 50k women’s podium:

1. Laura Trissel - 5:52:36
2. Ashley Welch - 6:18:05
3. Morgan Dalton - 6:38:03

With two runnings of the Terrapin 50k, this is Laura’s second time on the podium, grabbing second place in 2025. She is signed up for the Lynchburg Ultra Series, as well as Old Dominion 100 miler coming up in June.

Ashley is also signed up for the Lynchburg Ultra Series, which means she should be facing off with Laura again next month at Promise Land 50k++.

Not to be left out of the party, Morgan is also signed up to compete at Promise Land 50k++.

Man oh man oh man, what a day! Terrapin Mountain Endurance Run 2026 did not disappoint! Great weather, fantastic energy, and mountain miles with wonderful people!

There were groups of friends taking on the challenge together, first ultras, distance PRs, and even some people’s first ever trail race. And while it was a day of firsts for some, we had four people complete the half marathon for the tenth time, including 19 year old Caleb Ludke - he’s been running Terrapin Mountain over half his life - unreal!

Thank you to both the runners and volunteers for creating such an amazing atmosphere. Every year, this event serves as a reminder of not only the ability to do hard things, but of how great the trail running community is. Terrapin Mountain is YOUR event and Winding Way is grateful to be a part of it 🙏.
