The Southern Maine Boxing Club would like to congratulate Jack S Marquis on several great achievements! On July 17th 2025 Jack received the Richard P Potvin Education Scholarship for his excellence in leadership, educational success, community involvement, sportsmanship and team spirit. Jack is one of the most determined and hard working members we've ever had. He has done an amazing job setting an example for new boxers and representing our club.
And now, just one week later, Jack has been sworn in to the United States Army! Jack will be heading to Fort Benning Georgia for his basic training.
Congratulations Jack!

Quick heads up team, club will be closed tonight because of the weather. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't find a place and do a few rounds of shadow boxing!

Dear members of the southern Maine boxing club,

For years, the club has had a major impact on students, families and the communities of southern Maine. We’ve watched as members come in, unsure of themselves and leave years later as strong individuals with an amazing outlook on the rest of their lives.

We’ve been able to do this without raising our membership fees in over 10 years. During these last 10 years we’ve seen energy costs increase, rent increases, and supply chain issues that have made all of our supplies increase. I’m addition to this, the COVID pandemic made us close our doors and use most of the gyms saved resources (and some personal resources) to pay the bills that did not stop while they doors were closed.

In order for us to continue to serve the community we love, we’re going to institute a slight membership rate increase. Starting in January member rates will be $30 a month. This will allow us to continue to offer the great coaching and facilities you’ve come to expect.

As always, if this increase creates any kind of hardship please let me know. Scholarships to the community are always available. We never turn anyone away. With that in mind, if you feel that you’d like to pay a little more each month, it’s greatly appreciated. To those of you who already do pay that little extra each month, thank you. That money is very helpful with those scholarships.

If you have any questions please reach out to me directly.

And if you have not paid your December membership yet please do so this week. And as we get ready for another great year please remember that we will be collecting the $65 yearly registration fee starting this week. Please plan on bringing that in the next time you come workout.

Thank you,
Coach Jay

It's back to school time! Remember boxers, keep your grades up. What happens if you let your hands down in the ring? You get a smack in the mouth! Same if you fall behind in school, it's tough to climb out of a hole.
With that in mind, the gym will be closed Monday September 5 and will re-open Monday September 12. Take the week and focus on school. Figure out your schedules and get ready for a great year.
