The Lady Warriors had eight track athletes compete in the IHSAA Regional 8 at Evansville Central High School. These young ladies represented North Knox with class, doing their best in their respective events. We nearly had a new school record in the 800m Run.

Hayden Coats - Senior: High Jump 4 time regional qualifier.
Hayden started off the season strong in her events, but was sidelined most of the season due to a freak injury at the finish line of the 100m dash on opening night. She showed up when it counted though, and helped jump the Lady Warriors to another Blue Chip Conference Team Championship. Hayden has been a pleasure to work with throughout her career.

Emma Telligman - Sophomore: High Jump, 800m 2 time regional qualifier
Emma just about took the school record in the 800m from Assistant Coach Reegan Hammelman last night in a 6th place finish, just missing the record by three tenths of a second. She placed six spots above her seed for the regional contest, improving her PR from last week by nearly 3 seconds. She is such a tough competitor and there is no doubt she will continue to push herself for improvement in the future.

Kendall McGuire - Freshman: 200m Dash first time regional qualifier
If you asked Kendal about this year's track season, she would tell you it has been up and down, but she made it to the regional in the 200m Dash and placed above her seed at that. Kendal is an all around athlete that can do many things for us. She has been a 100m, 200m, long jump specialist throughout her career, but opted to run in the 400m in the conference meet to help the team get the title. She has a ton of talent, and the future is bright for Kendal.

CarrieAnn Myers - Sophomore: Long Jump first time regional qualifier
CarrieAnn Myers is yet another talented competitor. CarrieAnn is also an all around athlete, primarily specializing in the 100m, 200m, and Long Jump. CarrieAnn peaked just at the right time to get the nod to regional. She also was a member of the All Conference 4x100m relay team. Cannot wait to see what the future has in store for CarrieAnn!

4x800m Relay Team
Bristol Fleener - Sophomore:
Bristol will tell you that she has a tough job. Run fast in the 800m, run far in the 1600m, and survive the 3200m. Bristol has continued to improve PR's in all three events preparing for the experience in the regional.

Paislee Williams - Sophomore:
Paislee has been in beast mode lately, improving greatly every time she steps on the track. Really proud of her commitment to the 400m all year. She ended up placing 8th in the sectional there with a SB. Paislee is a tough kid that works very hard to be successful. She will continue to improve as she gains more confidence in the months to come.

Katie Wolfe - Sophomore:
Katie is the swiss army knife of the track team. Pole vault, some hurdles, 4x400, 4x800, 4x100, depending on the circumstance. She has even competed in High Jump and scored. She is alway eager to get in another event, and always does her best.

Abbigail Pope - Junior/Senior
Abbigail has improved so much over the last 365 days it is incredible. A large part of her improvement came after joining the cross country team last fall, and we are glad she did. With us being down a distance runner all season Abbigail came up huge for us. She always had a positive attitude and always ran her race.

What a great ending to a remarkable season for the lady warriors!

Good Luck NKJH Track and Field at the County Meet tonight!

05/13/2026

North Knox Track competed in the Blue Chip Conference Meet between Monday and Tuesday. The field events were all conducted Monday evening at Northeast Dubois, whilst the running events were hosted at North Knox on Tuesday.

Congratulations to the North Knox Lady Warriors for repeating as conference champions for the 2nd consecutive year! They are a truly impressive roster of athletes, and it has been my pleasure to watch them win so many meets this season.

On the boys side, we finished 4th of the 9 teams in the conference with 63.5 points. Though this is only one place higher in team scoring from 2025, it is nearly double our point total from a year ago! As Ricky Bobby used to say, "If you ain't first, you're last!", though his father later rescinded that statement and admitted "you could," in fact, "finish 2nd, 3rd, 4th, heck, even 5th!" So, I'm pleased with the results, even though we didn't walk away with any shiny trophies tonight.

Top Scoring Boys:
Tayevion Smith, junior - 13.5 points: 2nd place 400m dash (53.33 PR), 7th place pole vault and long jump, 3rd place 4x400m relay (3:46.57 PR)
Elijah Kirk, senior - 9 points: 4th place shot put and 5th place discus
Cooper Adams, sophomore - 8.5 points: 5th place high jump (5'4" PR), 6th place 300m hurdles (47.99 PR), 3rd place 4x100m relay

Coach's Comments:
I am extremely proud of all the North Knox Track athletes and coaches tonight (technically 'this morning' as I type this) for the efforts that have been put forth and the results that have been had. For both genders, really, there's such a balance of athletes in the program right now that allows us to be successful across a multitude of events.

I'd like to shout-out first year coach Trevor Kahre and all of the male and female throwers in the track program. Our throwers this year have been rock solid point-getters, and while there are some fantastic athletes in that department, Coach Kahre has done an awesome job bringing out the best in these kids. He has been a great addition to our coaching staff, and the athletes are developing well under his tutelage. This has proved so helpful in these bigger meets.

On the boys side, I'm so thankful for the improvement of my underclassmen this season, especially as of late. Seniors "only" pitched in 15.5 points of our 63.5 tonight, and while I am by no means disappointed by that amount, it just goes to show that I'm getting balanced production across the four classes. This will hopefully lead to sustained success in years to come. But, I shan't look ahead too soon; Sectionals are next week at Princeton!

The development of two male athletes in particular this season bodes well for the chance to have regional qualifiers: Tayevion Smith and Grant Wampler. Tayevion has drastically improved in the 400m dash as of late, and Grant has been steadily increasing at discus all season. Their respective PRs would be 4th and 3rd in their events based on the 2025 Princeton Sectional results, and top 3 advance to Regionals! So, with 9 days to train, I'm looking forward in particular to watching these athletes and their teammates prepare for what lies ahead.

NK Track competes next week at the Princeton Sectional at 6pm each day; Girls on Tuesday and Boys on Thursday.

We had several athletes step up into a slightly different situation this week, they all adapted well, and did their part in the conference win.

Zoey Chambers is really seeing the results form her efforts over the course of the season, one week she gets a PR in the 100mH, the next in the 300mH.

Kendal McGuire stepped up huge for us in the 400m. She has been working hard to get to this point all season. She is usually the anchor on our 4x100m team, but she's our 400m front runner right now as well.

The work ethic of these kids is exceptional.

The Lady Warriors finish the Regular Season 51-2-1.
