Master Michael Anthony is headed to Korea this week to test for his 9th Degree Black Belt — the highest rank a practitioner can test for. It’s estimated only about 1 in 40,000 taekwondo practitioners in the world will ever reach it. The exam is held in person in Seoul, in front of a panel of the art’s most senior grandmasters.
When Master Anthony moved to Sarasota last year to prepare for this test, we felt honored that he chose to train alongside us.

Did you know there’s a Taekwondo Day? There is, and it’s today!

Every September 4, the global Taekwondo community celebrates the art, sport, and shared values that connect practitioners around the world. It’s a day to honor Taekwondo’s heritage while carrying forward the discipline, respect, perseverance, and community it continues to build for the next generation.

Learning doesn’t stop when you earn a black belt—it continues throughout a lifetime.

Next week, Master Burlingham will attend the International Taekwondo Master Qualification Course in New Jersey through the Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Academy to continue developing his knowledge and skills as an instructor. Every opportunity to learn is another opportunity to bring new ideas, techniques, and perspectives back to our students.
