Almost a decade ago, my mom put on a show about her life story called Rise. She invited foster youth and survivors to show them that there’s more beyond that trauma.
I wanted to share a piece of her heart because after she told her story, she went on to tell others through a dance company called Animus. The impact of dance is incredible and she paved the way for many of us to recognize it and have our own voice.
