POV: being 58 and getting “lift as heavy as possible” advice from someone who’s never had to train around joint injuries or surgeries. 😅

I’m not anti-heavy. I’m pro longevity + smart stimulus.

Strong at 70 > shredded at 40.

You’re not overeating junk.
You’re overeating approved food.

Nuts, nut butter, smoothies, protein bars, restaurant salads that quietly double in calories, and “just a little” olive oil…

I eat these foods. I approve of them.
But they’re calorie-dense and easy to lose track of.

If fat loss is stalled, it might not be carbs.
It might be healthy fats (and extras) you’re not noticing.

Quick fix this week:
Read the labels on your “healthy” foods — and look up the calories in the ones you eyeball.

Save this before you blame carbs.

I’m 3.5 months post–shoulder surgery at 58.

My goal wasn’t just to “heal.”
It was to heal without losing unnecessary muscle everywhere else.

Of course the surgical side is going to be weaker at first.
That’s expected.

But most people come back overall weaker because they:

• stop training completely
• cut calories
• under-eat protein
• don’t have a plan to maintain stimulus
• restart months later like they’re beginning from scratch

That’s how you lose muscle you didn’t have to lose.

Here’s what I did instead:

✔️ ~100g protein daily
✔️ I did NOT cut calories — recovery isn’t the time to diet aggressively
✔️ Trained my lower body hard
✔️ Trained my non-surgery arm hard (cross-education effect matters)
✔️ Prioritized sleep
✔️ Surgeon used a Regeneten collagen patch
✔️ Short-term doxycycline (research suggests it may reduce collagen breakdown)
✔️ 6-week peptide protocol (not regulated, not advice — I cleared it with my doctors + PT)

*Slide 8 was the day before surgery.
I wanted to go in as strong as possible.

Recovery after 50 isn’t passive.
It’s strategic.

📌Save this if you’re in a comeback season.

All in the Family ran from 1971–1979.
It portrayed a middle-aged, middle-class couple in Queens, NY (where I’m from).

They were in their late 40s to early 50s here.

I’m 58.

Gen X didn’t find the fountain of youth.
We changed the rules.

We lift.
We eat protein.
We stopped accepting that 50 means decline.

Be honest — what changed more:

FITNESS or BEAUTY STANDARDS?

HORMONE DETOX WARNING: Read this before you buy. ⚠️

If you’re waking up at 3:00 AM with your heart racing and a craving for carbs, it’s a sign your metabolism is in a stress-loop—and the popular “hormone cleanses” you see online might be the culprit.

Many products marketed as a “hormone flush” or “detox” rely on natural diuretics (like Dandelion Root) or stimulant laxatives. While they promise fast results, they often act as a physical stressor on your system.

The Science of the 3 AM Wake-up:

When your body is stressed by these ingredients, your adrenals release cortisol. This spike causes your blood sugar to crash a few hours later. Your brain then sounds an “emergency alarm” (adrenaline) to wake you up and find sugar so you don’t stay in a hypoglycemic state.

The Expert Truth:
• The Myth: You can “flush” hormones out with a pill or a tea.

• The Fact: Your liver needs amino acids from protein and fiber from cruciferous vegetables (like broccoli and kale) to process and move hormones out naturally. 🥦

• The Foundation: Building muscle is the ultimate hormone stabilizer because it fixes the insulin issues that cause these midnight wake-ups. 🦾

Stop the marketing hacks and look for the metabolic logic.

🚩Comment “REDFLAG” and I’ll DM you the list of ingredients to avoid and the meal plan to actually fix the stall.

3 months post shoulder surgery.
5 anchors for 3 tendons.
Not a comeback story. A rebuild story.

There were weeks I could only do the basics: PT, walks, legs, core, patience…. and pain.

That’s when I remembered what actually works:
show up, adjust, repeat.

If you’re in your own rehab / setback / “start over”…
save this as proof: progress isn’t dramatic — it’s earned.

Comment “REBUILD” if you’re in it right now.
