Climbing Camp instructors are trained and certified by the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA), and we take our students to some of the most spectacular cliffs in New England. Our program adheres to an impressive 3:1 student-to-instructor ratio to ensure the correct levels of challenge, guidance and safety. This also enables us to tailor instruction to each individual's specific climbing g
oals. First, we cover the basics, and then we embark on adventures at large cliffs throughout the region. A typical week at White Mountain Climbing Camp might include:
-Climbing routes of varying levels of challenge at local cliffs, such as Cannon, Cathedral or Whitehorse
-Learning the basics of gear placement and anchor building
-Climbing legendary multi-pitch routes, like the Whitney Gilman on Cannon Cliff or Thin Air on Cathedral
-Learning to sport climb at the famous Rumney Rock climbing area
-Gaining a thorough understanding of what practices make climbing safe and unsafe
While not at the cliffs, participants will also:
-Climb in White Mountain School's spectacular climbing gym
-Form new friendships with other teenage climbers
-Swim in local lakes, rivers and ponds
-Engage in evening activities such as ultimate frisbee, movie watching, ping pong, and foosball
-Sleep in White Mountain School's dorms
-Eat delicious food in White Mountain School's dining hall, which boasts organic fare grown in a garden on site.
