Our next Alumni Spotlight is Christopher Goudoras.

Chris is the director of analytics for the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) baseball team.

Chris' job is to share analytic information with the coaching staff and players in order to help the team play better and win more games. It has been a successful tenure. The school won the College World Series in 2022.

Chris says the best part of the job is "working for a program with arguably the most passionate fanbase in the country."

Chris has been working for the team since 2018 when he was hired as the team's director of baseball operations. He was a Baseball Video Scout for SIS in 2016 and 2017.

Fun fact: Though Chris' work is based in logic and reason, he is superstitious.

"If we’re on a winning streak, I will use the same color pen charting in the dugout then switch to a different color the next game any time we lose."

This week, our alumni spotlight goes to Nihar Maskara, a pro personnel analyst for the Minnesota Twins.

Nihar was a top Video Scout for us in 2021 and was well known for his questions and his suggestions. We turned the tables on him by interviewing him for our company podcast.

Nihar talked about what he does in his job and what he did as a student analyst at Wake Forest that prepared him for the major leagues. He also shared tips for those who aspire to work in baseball and those just starting out.

Each week we're spotlighting an SIS alum who is . We continue that with Shannon Finegan, an administrator for All-Star Sports Academy in Pennsylvania.

Shannon was a Baseball Video Scout for SIS in 2022 and says she has taken the skills she learned then to every job she's had.

Shannon works for a company that offers private baseball and softball lessons, travel teams, and rental space for practice. She handles scheduling, makes sales and customer service calls, greets players and parents, and ensures everyone's day goes smoothly.

Shannon previously spent three years working for NFL Films as a media researcher, finding video clips that ended up on TV shows like Good Morning Football. She also worked in the field with cameramen and got a close-up look at Saquon Barkley's backwards end zone hurdle.

"The best part of these jobs is the people I meet. At NFL Films, I was surrounded by media professionals with impressive backgrounds that were always willing to give advice. At All-Star Sports I am around former MLB players and engaging with new people everyday. Being friendly with kids and parents of all backgrounds has been exciting and I've been able to grow my network."

Fun fact: Shannon worked Super Bowl LVI week in event planning, ensuring that friends and family of Bengals players got where they needed to go on time.

One of the best things about our company is our alumni. We have many alums who are and working in a variety of capacities. One thing we decided to do this offseason is to showcase the diversity of roles that our former employees have.

For example:
Michael Villegas is a sports reporter and anchor in Binghamton, NY.

Andrew Kyne is a data engineer for the Cincinnati Reds

Zebadayah Ataelseed is a content researcher for ESPN

Kerby Callison is a senior coordinator of game and event presentation for the Arizona Diamondbacks

And Allen Ho is an analyst in baseball analytics and research for the Washington Nationals

We're proud of all our alumni and the impact they're making in the sports world. Look for more alumni spotlights in the near future.

One of the best things about our company is our alumni. We have many alums who are and working in a variety of capacities. One thing we decided to do this offseason is to showcase the diversity of roles that our former employees have.

For example:

Michael Villegas is a sports reporter and anchor in Binghamton, NY.

"The best part of the job, besides going on television and getting paid to talk about sports, is getting to tell stories through sports and athletes and getting to share those stories with others"

Andrew Kyne is a data engineer for the Cincinnati Reds

"The best parts of the job are the people and culture, which was also true at SIS. I'm lucky to work with a lot of people who are not only passionate about baseball but are extremely smart, talented, and helpful."

Zebadayah Ataelseed is a content researcher for ESPN

"I help research using a boatload of resources and use that research to piece together storylines relevant to the sport I'm researching. The most fun thing about the job is being part of a show group, pitching ideas, and working with on-air talent, specifically coming up with ideas that make air or get you name-dropped. There are challenges every day in brainstorming ideas for notes about college football teams and uncovering niche stats that people find compelling."

Kerby Callison is a senior coordinator of game and event presentation for the Arizona Diamondbacks

"I wanted to get to the point of being a GM and build a team that people loved and cheered for. Now in my role, I can still do that, but instead of building a team, I can build a fan experience and watch fans cheer and get excited for something that my team and I created."

And Allen Ho is an analyst in baseball analytics and research for the Washington Nationals

"It’s interesting to watch how those materials spark curiosity, lead to questions, and sometimes even shift perspectives, whether it’s in a formal meeting or a casual hallway conversation. I find it rewarding to learn from colleagues with diverse backgrounds and perspectives, and to contribute insights that inform decision-making."

We're proud of all our alumni and the impact they're making in the sports world. Look for more alumni spotlights in the near future.

Several years ago, Alex Vigderman and our Research & Development team developed a statistic, Total Points, that took all the data we collect and summarized a player's individual contribution to everything that happened on the field.

That allowed us to evaluate football in a much more comprehensive way. As Matt Manocherian explained on our Off The Charts Football Podcast today, take Seahawks QB Sam Darnold as an example.

Darnold has terrific statistics as a QB this season. But if you look more closely at what happened on a play-by-play basis, you'll see that the contributions of both the receivers and blockers factor into Darnold's success in a major way.

This is what we do at SIS - whether it's football, baseball, or basketball, we try to provide the most comprehensive context for evaluating players, teams, and strategic decisions. Thanks for coming along for the ride!

The 2025 World Series was a showcase for the value of great defense as the players on the field made impressive play after impressive play right to the very end.

At our company we recognize great baseball defense year-round, culminating in the awarding of The Fielding Bible Awards, which represent the best in defensive excellence.

We've been announcing the winners of these awards for 20 years now - thought it was worth showing what the trophies for the winners look like.

Congratulations once again to the Defensive Team of the Year, the Cubs, and our player winners - Matt Olson, Nico Hoerner, Mookie Betts, Ke'Bryan Hayes, Steven Kwan, Ceddanne Rafaela, Fernando Tatis Jr., Max Fried, and our Defensive Player of the Year, Patrick Bailey.

We look forward to seeing what you can do in 2026.

We get asked a lot about our player value stat, Total Points.

Total Points attempts to merge everything a player does (and in some ways, what he doesn't do) into one number.

Daniel Jones, who is having a fantastic season has a lot of positives to his game and very few negatives. His example helps us convey what Total Points is.
