January 11, 2025 - For immediate release:
Posh and Catty announce new organization and changes to the Lehigh Valley Bicycle Association Board of Directors.
Exciting new opportunities and changes are happening for the Posh and Catty trail crews.
The Posh crew is proud to announce the launch of its new venture, The Posh Woods Project. As a 501 3c non-profit, the new organization’s mission is to foster and promote the sport of BMX by working to guide and grow the next generation of younger BMX riders. Drawing upon 30 years of experience and influence that shaped the direction of modern trails, the Posh crew is working to give back to the BMX community and create a positive BMX experience for all.
Lehigh Valley Bicycle Association (LVBA) will continue its vital work preserving and insuring the world-famous Catty Woods trails, keeping the trails free and open to the public for riders of all ages. The trails will continue to provide a full calendar of events with fun jams and epic jump contests with visitors from around the world.
With the formation of the new organization as well as the loss of the late Posh trails, changes will also occur within the Board of Directors of Lehigh Valley Bicycle Association. Effective January 31, 2025, all of the Posh crew members including Jason Lonergan, Brad Josar, Jeremy Behler, and Mike Gentilcore will step down from their positions on the LVBA board of directors. The remaining Catty board members including Chris Janis, Andy Schwartz, and Ekim King will continue to drive LVBA forward.
Current LVBA President, Mike Gentilcore, provided some overview and closure regarding the upcoming changes: “For the Posh and Catty crews, this is a milestone in our epic 12 year run together and the beginning of some new and exciting projects. While we will continue to ride together and help with the Catty events, it is time to put the future of the trails back in the hands of the original locals where it belongs. We formed LVBA out of Catty Corp back in 2012 when against all odds we were given the opportunity to preserve two of the worlds’ most famous trails at the same time. It was an unbelievable dream come true. Combining the two trails at that time allowed us to consolidate costs, maximize value for the sponsors, and form a one-of-a-kind non-profit organization with two world-class trails joined as one. With the loss of Posh in 2023, we took the opportunity to work together with both trail crews combined at Catty for the 2024 season and exceeded all our expectations. With the jam proceeds, product raffles with the help of our sponsors, and the Mosh at Posh at Catty T-shirt sale, we were able to complete a record fundraising season with enough funding to purchase Catty’s new steel storage unit and fully cover all rent and insurance obligations for Catty Woods through 2028. Achieving this 3-year funding milestone is our thank you to the Catty crew and our way to sincerely acknowledge all they have done since the very beginning when they forged the foundation of what became LVBA as we know it today. For this we will be forever grateful. We thank all the riders, parents, community leaders, donors, and sponsors that made this possible.”
Stay tuned for more from the Posh Woods Project and look forward to a great calendar of LVBA events for the 2025 season at Catty Woods!
