A New Step Forward for Phantoms Youth Girls Hockey

As part of the continued growth and evolution of our Girls Program, we are making an intentional change to how we share and celebrate our athletes moving forward.

All official Girls Program content will now live on the main Lehigh Valley Phantoms Youth Hockey social media platforms.

When you become a Phantom, you become part of one Phamily.

We don’t separate recognition by division or designation — every player who wears the crest deserves to stand on the same stage, share the same spotlight, and be celebrated by the full strength of our community.

This transition ensures that the accomplishments of our female athletes receive the visibility and reach they deserve, fully integrated into the story of Phantoms Youth.

Individual Girls teams are absolutely encouraged to continue running and promoting their own team accounts, providing a targeted way to follow specific teams while the main Phantoms Youth platforms showcase the broader journey of our organization.

This is one step in an exciting new direction — and we’re just getting started.

Today, on National Women and Girls in Sports Day, we are proud to announce an important addition to the future of Phantoms Youth.

Please join us in welcoming Morgan Thrush as our new Vice President of Girls Hockey Operations, joining the Phantoms Youth Executive Board.

Morgan brings passion, leadership, and a deep commitment to growing opportunities for girls in our game. Her vision and energy align with where Phantoms Youth is headed — and we are incredibly excited for what lies ahead.

Girls hockey continues to grow at every level, and today marks more than just a leadership announcement — it represents the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our girls program.

Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing more about a bold new direction designed to elevate development, opportunity, and experience for our female athletes.

For now, please join us in congratulating and welcoming Morgan as she steps into this important role.

Our final 19U Girls Senior Spotlight is Mandy Kopchak!

Years with Phantoms Youth: 12
Mandy is currently a senior at Northampton Area High School. She has been playing hockey for 13 years and has been with the Phantoms Organization for 12 of those years. Outside of hockey, Mandy has been dancing since she was 4, and in high school she participates in track and field and is part of National Honors Society and Science National Honors Society. She has been a part of Scouting America since 2019 when girls could first join and enjoys being outdoors and going on adventures with her friends and family.

In her near future, Mandy plans to attend college, obtaining a masters degree in athletic training, where she also hopes to continue her hockey career.

Phantoms has been more than just a team for Mandy. It has been a home and a family. Mandy would like to thank all of her coaches and teammates throughout the years who have pushed her to be where she is today. She would like to give a special heavenly thanks to her Uncle Dan who was the loudest and proudest of them all and would never fail to be there to support Mandy's every move. Finally, she would like to thank her parents, grandparents, brother Lewis, Aunt Jean and friends; the people who would show up and tell her how great she did even if she didn't believe it or see it herself.

Kristen McMenimen from the 19U Girls is our next Senior Spotlight

Years with Phantoms Youth: 5
Kristen has been with the Phantoms for 5 years. She is currently a senior at Bethlehem Catholic where she played field hockey her senior year. She has also been assisting the 14u girls team at their practices for two years. At school, Kristen is the president of National Honors Society. After high school, she plans to go to the University of St. Joseph’s, CT where she will be in their physian assistant program. She also plans on playing both field hockey and ice hockey at the collegiate level. Kristen has many fond memories from her years with Phantoms and is honored to have served as Captain this year.

Caroline Grum from our 19U Girls is our next Senior Spotlight

Years with Phantoms Youth: 10
Caroline is proud to say she’s been with the Phantoms for all 10 years she’s been playing. She is a volunteer junior coach for the Lehigh Valley Polar Bears for her fourth year and has spent the past two years also assisting the 14u girls team at their practices. She is currently a senior at Southern Lehigh high school where she played tennis for all four years and was named co-captain this fall season. At school, Caroline is a leader of Aevidum, French Club, and helps with theater productions. She is also very involved with her church where she has been acting on the board of deacons and Youth Advisory team for the past three years. Caroline loves the memories she has from her time with the Phantoms and is honored to have served as an assistant captain this year.

Its almost time for our Senior Games and with those comes our Senior Bios and tonight, we begin with Tori Horvath!

Years with the Phantoms Youth Organization: 5
Tori is currently a senior at Northampton Area High School and spends most of her time at the rink, hanging out with friends and being with family. She began playing ice hockey at 5 years old for the Northampton Ice Hockey Club. At 13, she decided to leave Northampton and start playing travel hockey for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms organization during her freshman year of high school. While with the Phantoms, Tori has met some of the best people in her life. Wearing the Phantoms jersey represents years of dedication, friendships, and memories that Tori will carry with her long after the final buzzer. As a senior, it is the last chapter of her youth hockey journey, and she is grateful for every coach, teammate, and moment that helped her grow into the player and person she is today. Most importantly, Tori is especially thankful for her dad, who was always there for her, encouraged her to start playing, and has been her biggest fan every step of the way.

Registration is open for the 2026 Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association (AAHA) Girls District Development Camp Tryouts, and we encourage all eligible Phantoms Youth girls to consider participating.

These tryouts offer a high-level, positive development experience — the chance to skate with peers from across the Atlantic District, learn from top coaches, and challenge yourself in a competitive but supportive environment.

Last season, 10 Phantoms Youth girls earned selections to Atlantic District camps through this process, and we’re incredibly proud of the work they put in.

🟧⬛ Winter Break, Hockey Style ⬛🟧

Some of our Phantoms Youth girls took their winter break straight to the rink — New York Sirens style 🏒

From sitting on the bench during warmups as Bench Buddies, to watching the Sirens prepare and compete up close, this was a special look at women’s hockey at the highest level.

Moments like these — shared together in orange and black — are what inspire the next shift, the next season, and the next dream.
