After taking time to reflect on this past weekend, I’ve realized there’s much more to the experience than what’s visible on the surface.

Many people see the RIBBON as a “tag” or a sign that one team is better than another. In reality, the ribbon itself holds very little meaning. While we are grateful and proud to have earned it, what it truly represents is something deeper, it shows that my dog and I can function as a cohesive team. It reflects the bond, trust, and mutual respect we’ve built together something that cannot be replicated by anyone else.

Sadie truly impressed me this weekend. A UBT 2 test proved to be an entirely different challenge than we anticipated. It pushed us outside our comfort zone, forced me to trust her more, and required us to work through some difficult moments together. That experience alone was invaluable.

I share this perspective because I believe that, as handlers, if we are not actively testing our dogs or training alongside other trackers, we are doing our teams a disservice. Both our successes and our failures along with the knowledge gained from working with others have played a significant role in our growth and development.

To everyone who has invested time in helping us along the way, thank you. Your support and guidance are truly appreciated.

We had the opportunity to run a UBT 2 yesterday, and Sadie truly rose to the occasion. She put in an impressive track and exceeded my expectations. We found our grove and maintained it throughout, even working through some challenging and thick sections with confidence. I couldn’t be more grateful for the knowledge we received today!

Sadie Mae you sure do look good in red!
