IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, the family has requested donations be made to Shelby County Humane Society or Chase Away K9 Cancer.
Today, the Dixie Flyers mourn the loss of our teammate and friend, Jenny McRoy.
Jenny, along with her border collie Snap Dragon, pioneered flyball in Alabama in 1999. In addition to flyball, she was a well-known competitor in obedience, agility, and dock diving. She also enjoyed herding with her beloved border collies (Snap, Gyp, Gil, Logan, and Henry). In all of these arenas, Jenny knew everyone, would always help run the competition, could answer anything about the rules of the sport, and was always the most prepared (she always had her first aid kit and almost anything else someone needed). Outside of dog sports, she had many talents - she could sew/embroider anything, knew everything about flowers and plants, and undoubtedly one of the best bakers. Everyone always wanted Jenny to volunteer to bake goodies because they were always amazing.
Mostly, Jenny will be remembered for being a true friend. Jenny was kind, was happy to share her many talents, loved her dogs and friends, and was the epitome of a true friend. She was there when you needed her (even if you never asked) and while she built many relationships with people through dog sports, it wasn’t always about the dogs. Jenny will be truly missed at agility trials, dock diving competitions, and in the flyball lanes, but she leaves a huge hole in all of those lucky enough to call her friend.
She leaves behind her husband, Woods (with Logan and Henry) and brother, William (Claudia), and all of their extended family. Please keep all of Jenny’s family in your thoughts and prayers.
Arrangements will be posted as they become available.
